@Yeshua Is Lord I am a hard working student and I usually get As but I was struggling with biochem. In fact I got a C on my first exam. I knew I had to change my methods so I did and got a great result. You could be as smart as you want but if your study method is wrong you’d most probably end up with a grade you don’t like. So it’s not about being smart or high IQed it’s about knowing what works for you best. Just my opinion 🙂

I am a law student and I have been doing active-recall for 4 years now and my grades improved tremendously (top of my class for two years straight) , so it really does work in any field. But I study throughout the year, I read the class first and then try to recall everything without the notes and then repeat it the next day, two days later and a week later etc.

@@dumebikanu3180 Never took notes in class. I would turn them into questions. Not for every course however. We just had an exam for patho where we had to study 34 lectures ranging from 37-70 slides each. Then is where you have to be innovative with the recall. For that I'd suggest taking a powerpoint, read the first 10 slides..then try to summarize orally what they are about. I did this and would write out what I summarized...leaving me with summary notes at the end.

I start an ABSN in a few weeks & have been researching how to study, as this is my biggest concern since I struggled terribly in undergrad. Out of all the videos I’ve watched so far, this one clicks the most & it makes me feel totally capable (which I haven’t felt since high school). So thank you so much! Hoping my testing anxiety will be greatly reduced & scores improved!

Hello 👋🏼 wanted to see how your ABSN program is going?? And to see if this method has helped you? I am debating on going the ABSN route too but a little nervous!

I found this reallyyyy helpful! I liked how you explained everything so clearly! Can you please do a video on space repetition? And how do you ensure that you review those topics whilst learning new content? I focus too much on learning the new content and don’t have the time to review the previous topics. Also I would love to see the study video as well 💕

Wow, I do this with my notes but with each slide I’m asking these questions in my head and answering them/explaining them to my pet. I noticed doing so my grades in grad school improved and I can really retain material for longer. Great video!

I integrate my class lectures in with First Aid and write questions on the side to help me remember the material instead of reading and re-reading, it's helpful although it takes alot of time

1st year med student here, Quick tip for everyone. When you make a google sheet for this, you can make a 1st column on the left for "Status" and make it a drop down menu through "Data Validation". I made mine "1, 2, or 3" and they correspond with Red, Yellow, Green. You can then sort by the question status so maybe you only want to see yellow and red questions and not green, it makes your experience much neater. You can also do conditional formatting to make say the question and answer rows be the color you choose, so it'll actually highlight for you when you select "1" or "2" for example. Good luck all! We can do it!
