You rock ! Thanks a lot for all that details (and for the next ones coming). I assume you put the IR frame above your one way mirror (didn't you ?), but how was the feeling when touching it ? (I mean, wasn't it weird compared to our smarthphones touchscreens ? And last but not least, how expensive was the whole thing ? (especially the IR frame ^^). Thanks again for sharing your time with us Ryan, take care

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for taking your time to share this project you have been working on. It is inspirational for me to find a cool project to practice programming with the Pi. If you can share more, it would be greatly appreciated but keep up the great work and sharing technology and information is definitely what I am all about!
Brilliant :-) Love the behind-the-scenes info. Can’t wait to see how the channel evolves.
Excited to see what you do with the channel! Keep up the great work!
I'm really exited for this new channel and what it will bring! never give up one this idea just seeing your smart mirror, i know people will want to see your work and how amazing it is
Awesome, thanks for sharing and being so open & honest !
So I just ended up seeing your first smart mirror video a couple weeks ago, and honestly I'm overwhelmed by the idea of all the programming because it's something I've literally NEVER done before. This is incredible, and I'd love to maybe try my own tech un-savvy hand at a cool project like this one and would like to see your process on this build. BuildHub forever.
One of the best mirror builds out there. Amazing journey!
This was my dream, to see a technology like this. I'm waiting for a tutorial. This was mindblowing for me. I'm so happy that someone made made a mirror like this. Thank you!

I mean once you cover a touchscreen with venice mirror it's all a matter of appropiate software not much different from writing any other touchscreen app
@holaahora7527
3 жыл бұрын
@@xGOKOPx But how does it work? He says an os 10 desktop application. What is that? Is that build on top of linux? Can he access other apps/programs or the operating system is only the software?
@xGOKOPx
3 жыл бұрын
@@holaahora7527 If he said "os 10" then I guess it works on a Mac, although that doesn't sound right so dunno. My point was that it's no different from making a big touchscreen device and writing an app, only except you put a venice mirror on top of the touchscreen
Very glad you got to this follow up, and looking forward to the channel in the future! Would love to see a build of materials as well, and I'd definitely support a Kickstarter of this if that's still a thought in your mind. Your take on the smart mirror is where the future of this space is going to, and you should be first to market!
one flaw you probably have thought about yourself is how many finger smudges you'll have on your mirror after using it... maybe consider implementing a kinect for gesture control

Add a wnidshield wiper to it, lol
@jacknapoli7307

or simply get a "smudgeless" cover... they exist and you just put it over the mirror and it allows for touch screen to work without finger smudges

You mention that one of the problems with the mirror is certain lighting. Why not ditch the mirror all together and just go with a wall display that holds your calendar and has the built in functionality you have already developed. There are tons of busy families that could benefit from synced calendars that can be hanged on the wall to keep everyone up to speed. Why does it need to be a mirror?
man, youre a really great developer for not wanting to take money because you dont want to let anyone down. hoping you are able to ship a big project some time. good luck
I love everything about this you have inspired me to make one of my own hopefully all goes well
i have been waiting for this day for sooo freaking long!!! ur amazing man
I love your honesty at the begining. Most of us secretly want to have an idea or a product that we can use to start our own business and free ourselves from the shackles of everyday employment (dramatically speaking). You tried it, it didn't work out and you didn't become bitter from it and shared your expierience with us. Thanks for that.
Ive wanted to start this project for years, thanks for sharing about how it went for you! excited to get started myself!
Great project, looking forward for more information. Keep up your good work!
Loved your work man! Hope this channel brings in more subs. So excited for what's to come. 💯💯♥️🙏
Sorry to hear that your entrepreneurial endeavor to build a company and sellable product based off your design didn't come to fruition. Thanks for sharing your process. I look forward to seeing your future projects and videos on this channel.
Man start giving tutorials on software development that could boost your career much easily as well as you will be serving for others 👍🏻👍🏻

The kit idea is the best!
You are going somewhere with your life! Genius.
Your setup is 2nd to none. Freaking love it! Would love to build one of these myself. Magic mirror is cool, but the interaction you have with yours rocks!
Your smart mirror was awesome! I'm an electronics technician and have wanted to build my own smart mirror for a while. There's so many ways to go about it. I thought your interactive keyboard, two-finger volume function, and nest controls were awesome. The whole mirror looks really good! Thanks for posting this. I'm not a software engineer so I have no knowledge of C+ and C++ so whenever you get a chance to show the software build would be awesome! Thanks again for the video. God bless.
Very well made. Looking forward to more videos. Subscribed.
Your accomplishments are just astonishing. Congrats. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 👍👍👍
You're so awesome! I'm so excited!!!
Got to say this. You should be very proud of what you achieved. Great idea and a great product. Would love to own one. Bravo.
This is absolutely amazing. I have a RPi Magic Mirror right now but this is top notch. Really looking forward to a walkthrough!
When I saw it was this kid I instantly hit the like button! He is so awesome! I'd totally watch a step by step tutorial of how to build a smart mirror if he was willing...
Love it. Definitely something I would do during my spare time if you would be able to upload a tutorial. So inspired - keep up with the good work!
You are awesome and thank you for sharing. As a tinkerer I appreciate it!
Looking forward to further projects!
Very cool what you've made, I'm sure it was a lot of hard work. Thanks for sharing!
This is epic, looking forward to more videos.
I would definitely be interested in a kit or paying for clear instructions to construct my own. Great concept and your implementation was definitely both unique and superb
Awesome dude! Great work!
You are just amazing An inspiration for my smart mirror i built
mate you are dope and great, I would love to see more projects !
Don't give up! Smart mirror is and will be a thing in the future!
Just subscribed man keep uploading such content
Great ideas with these smart mirrors, I'm thinking of making one myself
very cool. look forward to following your work. I am very interested in building a smart mirror for my new home.
You are welcome and good luck, I will be waiting for your mirror design
You inspire me so much!!! 😁✊
Amazing, simply amazing.
I can’t wait for this channel to get bigger. It’s going to be really interesting. Would there be any possibility of us getting a video on how you made the software. I’m interested in doing things like this but have now clue what to use or how to design the soft ware.
Amazing project! Love your perseverance and thanks for sharing. Would love to see steps of what you did in more detail to see what I could replicate and iterate on.
where can I find a a capacitive touch screen panel?thank you
Don’t give up .... really cool. And you’re good at explaining. Please put videos out
Good job...this was such a cool inspo vid
I was blown away. Literally
what programming to use if I want to make a similar kind of touch features. Please help
I can't wait to try this out
Dude great video..really motivational for me thx
As for that major flaw, just add a polarized anti glare layer on top... Try it. See what it gets you

Love the mirror, earned a sub!
Definitely subbed. Your channel seems very interesting and professional
Incredible build... :)
Really looking forward to your potential bro 👌👌💯
Although I have built my smart mirror, I would still buy your kit! Keep it Up!
Really excited !
LOL! watched that project/video of yours when I was in college and trying to find the source! Found out the technique just before I watched this vid. And yea It would be great if the product was launch. Anyways, you are great! since I watched that vid years ago, I can remember those days. Good luck for the channel. Subbed!
How can I cast KZread on the bottom center part of my smart mirror?? Maybe like 4”x6” inches ? With the weather and time displayed on the top right and left corner ?
I think you have designed a brilliant product and i do think in higher end markets people would buy these up and install them. One particular room i think they would be a hit is in a make up room. I am an electrician and I could see a real market for them. Keep up the good work.
How did you make it touchscreen? Was it the monitor, or..?
I have also created smart mirror but I don't have mirror that would support touch, as suggested that we can use Infrared frame for touch mirror and you have used C and C++. would this IR frame would work with raspberry pi. if yes then please share the link to buy the IR frame. thanks
Man you get a sub just for how sincere you are. Lets grow this!

Can you put a parts list together and links to the software necessary? This would help for mildly interested users like myself to get a cost together and see if I can afford to do it, without having to click through six thousand pages to hope I have the correct parts. If this was feasible for me in my day to day, I'd love to give it a shot. I think it would help you grow your userbase if when you release stuff like this, you enable the viewer as much as possible. This will really assist with return traffic, based on my own browsing habits.
You've won me over bro.. totally subscribing. And who knows? You might come up with a solution while doing other endeavors. Good luck to you bro
Wish you the best of luck in your journey, you are definitely talented don't doubt that
Do you have a link for the ir frame?
woow !! The mind behind it is so cool bro .keep it up
How do you make the platform/UI I’ve been wanting to get into stuff like that and how o do it
Hey can you make an updated version for Pi zero please? NPM doesn’t work.
Could I use the parts from a touchscreen monitor/laptop for the screen or touchpad??
This is great! Definitely checking out BuildHub.
Good luck! I can't wait to have another channel upload videos that I like to watch.
Dope bro! Keep it up 👍👍
What operating system do you use in a smart mirror, and how do you make it?
You are awesome ...keep it up.
wish this dropped in a kit, would love to know you did the interface as im interested in designing my own
Can i use Reflective Glass ? Instead of two way acrylic ?
Could you please provide me with a link/tutorial/download how you made the smart mirror be able to adjust settings by turning your wrist, like you were grabbing a physical knob?
Does anyone know how to implement the capacitive touch screen panel, I really don't like the look of the IR frame...
can you tell me on what kind of program you have written the platform and also the designer app?
Gosh your cute and clever 😍 sorry got sidetracked lol absolutely love the software aspect in this mirror, super intuitive, snappy and well thought out - your strengths really are in designing and implementing software. I subbed your channel and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you got ☓
Also how much did the IR frame cost?
Thanks for this amazing video. Would you be willing to share your code and a list of hardware and links to buy? I want to build one for myself and I just don't know where to start. Your mirror works exactly how I'd like mine to work and about the right size I'm looking for. Any help and direction would be great! Thank you so much!
This guy is great.
How do you create those custom gui elements? I am trying to do a similar project in python and am not sure how to change the default slider into something as clean as what you have going on here
for the capacitive touch panel version, did you just lay a One-way mirror on top of it?
As a dang diesel mechanic I've been trying to teach myself all this type of stuff. Mad props bro
Any chance you'd upload the code to github so I could tinker with it and expand on your work, making my own smart mirror?
Are you going to publish any of the code you wrote? I am just beginning my programming education and I would like to have a cool project to work on that'll teach me more.
So much for staying consistent and making videos...

:( i've been sooo busy. I'll try and get something out within the next week!
2 questions....the issue with low visibility, have you tried a different kind of monitor like an LED/QLED display? and lastly....will you put up the custom OS on github?
Do you have a link to the capacitive touch screen panel you purchased?
