I use tempered glass shelves/plates salvaged from paneled coffee tables, shelving units, and the glass doors from trashed entertainment centers. They let me dance the lights around the box, and the gaps are big enough to let the heat out. I use a cheap reflective emergency blanket to cover the setup. The glass panels also make great cold press plates.

I also agree that the peroxide misting / light treatment drying effects stresses the paper, especially around spine splits, staples and tears. I put a small damp rag in the box to even out the humidity a little, without making the environment damp.

If you wanna reflect the blue light spectrum, the best thing to do would be to take some coarse grit sandpaper to the inside of the tub, then put a couple of coats of matte white paint on there...

Hello, not sure if you read your comments on older videos but I will ask anyways. I saw in the comments some other guy asked about cards, so I figured maybe you would know. On manga, the top, side, and bottom of the book pages will be yellowed sometimes, especially on older volumes. Could this method work for manga?

I have not attempted. I would imagine so. I have whitened interior pages of comics. It is tedious to do every page though.

Hi Joe, I am wondering if it was ME, Murray Clack, who may have suggested using the aluminum duct tape to line the light box? When I first got Kaptain Myke's book and saw he used aluminum foil to line the box, I knew that using the tape would be a better option. If it wasn't me who mentioned, then maybe it may have been Chris Bousquet who is also on Kaptain Myke's page, and he got the idea from me (Small world because it turns out that Chris and I just live a five minute drive from each other)

The gap is 4” cuz lights are 4.75” so there is enough for them to sit on

for just a bit of edge yellowing, have you had any success without peroxide? I'm thinking of doing this with a video game manual, and they have finishes on them that I'd be skeptical to put peroxide on. The manual color is white and grey, with some light yellowing around the edge areas.@@TopComicsPressing

I Ordered the light, foil tape and am going to do this sometimes this week. I'll let you know the results. Even going from off white to light cream to just off white would be a big win here. I've got at least 10 of these manuals, and they are near minus to near mint outside of the color and hard to find white and near mint. @@TopComicsPressing
