How I Built a Mostly Authentic Ghostbusters Uniform: Jumpsuit Episode

This is the first video in a series of many that will detail how I've built my (mostly) authentic Ghostbusters uniform using a CWU-27P military issue flightsuit!
To check out more information on the leg hose, as well as viewing a comparison between the authentic prop quality leg hose, and the most common budget alternative, follow this link:

Here is the CWU-27/P flight suit. Consider shopping for deals on eBay before you commit to paying retail prices.

These are the patches I went with. There is a bigger company that this that are doing them, but these will do fine.

This video is gonna be a LIFE SAVER when I get my flight suit, thank you! I don't suppose you know if this costume changes during Afterlife at all? Looking to do a Phoebe cosplay where she's wearing Egon's suit but wasn't sure about whether she has the hose and what not.

Right on Rolly! So glad this video will be of some assistance when you build your uniform! I'm not sure about the Afterlife uniforms yet as I haven't seen it. I'm not vaxxed and the government in Canada is tyrannical won't let me participate in my community. I'll find out more and get back to you! Merry Christmas my friend!

Great tutorial!! Since I have three suits, (soon to be four) I prefer to use Velcro for my patches. It saves time and money, instead of buying several patches. No leg hose for me, LOL.

Not a fan of the iron on part, but the sewing ring thing is a really good idea and I’ll be using that. Oh on a side note does the shoulder strap of your proton pack cover part of your name tag cause by the looks of it, it Might be a little too far to the left, I’m aware this video is a year old.. mostly just mentioning it for the sake of people viewing it now, hopefully they see this and take the proton pack’s shoulder strap into account when attaching their name tag.

Hi Matthew! Thanks for the comment! I ironed it down because the flight suit was committed and any residue left behind would only ever be covered over by matching patches. It keeps it from shifting which can produce a wavy patch. As long as you can keep the patch perfectly flat against the fabric then this step isn't necessary, but I still highly recommend it. As far as the name patch, my background is military and never in my 12 years of service was covering over my name tape with field equipment an issue. After seeing the Magnoli's though I realized I probably didn't place this in the most screen accurate position.

@@landrecce don't fault you, ironing it in place definitely would make the sewing aspect easier. though given that my dumb ass needed to start over twice, with the first attempt being me sewing it on the wrong side probably a good thing i didn't go the iron on route... yeah the name patch in the movies is basically right next to the main zipper, there's a bit of wiggle room depending on the length of your name but the basic idea is that the shoulder straps of the proton pack shouldn't cover your name.
