I’m super irritated that you owe taxes. Seriously?? Anyone making under 40k shouldn’t even have to pay taxes at all! Billionaires find loopholes to pay nothing and you have to pay? I’m just mad at America right now. 😡

It makes no sense. If you are able to reduce your taxable income by putting money into a IRA , fha, or HSA it can reduce your tax bill. I reduced my tax bill putting money in a IRA.

New subscriber here! I'm 44, no kids, no husband and I am ready (just like you) to change my financial story. I've been living from paycheck to paycheck (work full-time and have a part-time job where I work 16 hours every saturday) but it seems like I have more going out than going in.2024 is OUR year! You are right! We have to be proactive in this journey. I'm almost done with saving my 1st $1,000 in my Emergency Fund and I am committed to seeing financial freedom a reality! You got this my friend...😊

I have just subscribed. I am anxious to see your progress! I did the total money makeover, but not wholeheartedly, full-throttle. I was able to save my $1000 within probably 45 days, not 30, but when I did, I felt so good....and then life started life-ing, and eventually I fell off, and that was years ago. I have kept at the budgeting, but I was budgeting to spend, not to save. I am back at it having gone through Financial Peace University at baby step #1. Together we can all get this together! I'm currently 51 and so serious about getting my financial house in order so I can retire at some point 😊

New subbie and fellow budgeter here! Good for you taking control of your finances. And I truly agree, Dave Ramsey's methods does need to tweaked a little to fit your personal situation. I have always been the same way with my vehicles, as a female I do not have the time to be haggling with mechanics on what needs to be fixed. Sometimes you have to pay a little more $$ for convenience and peace of mind.

15:30 I totally hear you about how some of the things are not practical, when it comes to women. We need the extra care and security. I love that Ramsey is teaching people, and others are able to follow him, including his daughter, but they probably have a support system, and help if they need it. Being able to safely get back and forth and to feel safe and secure where you live is important.

It’s never to late to start 🙏🏼 it’s a tough time for everyone as like you’re doing catching up your stuff and when you start seeing the little blessings which is even if you have a small savings you don’t need to touch it, that’s progress. It will take time but trust me you will start feeling better and it will motivate you to stay on track. I do something that makes me feel like I have money even if it’s not a lot. I started a money jar with only $1 bills and I do a jar for change. Every time I look at my Dollar jar in my change jar I feel like I’m accomplishing something. I’m may only have $51 bills in there, but I feel like I got some money stashed away for emergencies Tiny emergencies, but it does help you mentally trust me it does every time you look at it. When you get a dollar or two, just keep putting it in your jarand just stay on track because trust me you will get on track and feel so much better even if you don’t have all the money you want saved it does motivation. Hang in there.😊

Girl! You a Gorgeous!! Stay the course. You can do this. I understand about the car. We haven't bought a new car since Dec of 95. That said my husband works on our cars. With you being single and unable to fix your own car if it broke down, you have to have a reliable vehicle.

I work for my local school district- Iam 52- I work full-time at my regular job at school, I work partime during the week at the Golf Course and weekends Iam in the medical field and work weekends as they need help. Iam doing this as Iam single- and my kids are grown- and I want to brutally attack this debt! Going to have no life for a short time to win at the end. Not dragging my $37000 dollars in debt with me anymore. I live alone and pay it all by myself- DETERMINATION! I want to leave legacy for my children! debt consists of student loans and consumer debt- thats it. My car is paid in full.I paid my $22,000 car off in less than 7 months!

You are whole without anyone else. The husband is just an addiction. It will happen eventually, just on God's timing. Your life journey is unique just for you. Don't be too hard on yourself. Life is a journey, not a story. If it makes you feel any better, I'm a beautiful single lady, too. 😊

You can do independent contract work interpreting. My old job we would pay by the hour as much as 45.00 per hour interpreting services for clients who needed assistance with job search and interviewing. W

I think it’s cute but you’re a sign language interpreter and all I see you using is your hands talking to us 🤣 I use my hands a lot when I talk. It’s really sad that you have such an important skill set that took so many years to master and yet you’re not compensated as you should be!

I work in acute care. I was just curious if you've looked into interpreting in a hospital setting. At my local hospital, the patient would have an interpreter with them during their entire stay.

We have to have an Advanced or Master level/NIC license to be able to interpret in hospital settings in Illinois. I'm several years from that as I've only been in the field 3 years. I take my Intermediate exam this summer...and you have to take them in order. It's just the beginning...😀

You are on a great path my sister. I would look into mint mobile rates for your cell phone. I know this might be a challenge for a lot of us as Christians but just for a little while it's just a suggestion to maybe tide a little less just for a little while maybe just a $100.00 for now and use the $50.00 to fill up your catalogies for saving. It's just a thought

@@msfinanciallyfitbae Okay, that is awesome! Yeah I'm going through the same thing. I am purposely keeping myself single until I get my finances together aswell. I may very well be passing on a future husband, but I'd rather cater to myself for now until I get enough financial knowledge, because I usually attract men who need my help or men who can't cook which leaves me drained. I'm trying to change, those poor habits of accepting men like that into my life.

This is not a critical post but one of living in reality. For you to say you are not twenty so you wont do gig work is why you are almost 50 living in your brothers home struggling financially. You do what is needed until goals are meet. Humble yourself and you will see doors open that has never been opened to you before. I will be watching your journey and i will you the best with it.

"This is not a critical post..." **inserts criticism** Ha! Shots fired!! I'm here for it! Actually, I have MY 2 reasons for not doing gig work - 1. I don't want to. 2. my car has 100,000 miles on it. I prefer to use my car to get back and forth to my actual job, not add a lot of wear and tear from local stop and go errands. And I am ACTUALLY struggling financially because of yearrrssss of inability to make sound financial decisions/choices...long before gig work was popular. So, my dear, "you won't do gig work" is NOT the reason.

Driving gig work is a TERRIBLE deal for the gig driver. Most make very little after vehicle wear and tear + gas + insurance are accounted for, and it seems incredibly draining 😞
