Yea, it's an illegal eviction. I would've stayed and recorded every single interaction with the landlord, he eventually would have to bring the eviction case to civil court and I would drop all that evidence into the hearing.

What you did was not very smart to be honest. You should have called the cops yourself on the that store’s staff. If paid using your card you can go to your bank’s app and pull up the transaction. If you paid using cash, you could ask them to pull up the surveillance camera recording that should show you paying for your stuff.

Wait...did you not have proof of purchase, like a receipt, to show that you paid the first time? No offense but something doesn't sound right. All transactions are recorded so they could have easily went back thru everything that was purchased at the particular "till" you used. Everything is computerized, all data is recorded, saved and can be printed out at anytime of the day or at shift change.

Yeah, as I said in my comment he should've just stayed. Put up cameras and record every interaction with the landlord. The landlord needs a vacate order for the judge to have the sheriff remove him from the premises, so he would eventually need to take him to civil court. Where I would show all recordings and evidence I had of how it was an illegal eviction.

Tell me what he did that wasn't within his rights. He was being followed out of the store by employees that have the ability to check the cameras, that's most definitely a threat. I've worked in a store where they clearly watched someone steal on the camera and they accused me helping him because he asked me why his tap and pay didn't work. Even if he didn't pay rent\violate the landlord can't evict, the landlord cannot make that decision that's for a court to decide. However, if he didn't pay of follow a lease, I agree he should be vacated, but for what he claims happened that's definitely illegal. It sounds fishy to me however.
