I love that Tory is not at her parents house because this is what I will have to do and Tory has great ideas and a plan for people like me. So I’m thankful for what she’s doing. It’s giving me confidence to start. Only difference I have two dogs.

Don’t wait go for it, you will never regret starting but you will regret delays. If your two dogs are really active long walks/runs first thing in the morning before you start work.

There are storage units/garages which have electric and will allow you to do work in them. So you can store your stuff and drive your van in and work there, have power for your tools, and a sheltered area and even run a little space heater if needed. But they are usually $200-$300+ (likely more in CA) and often have long waiting lists. Glad you are feeling better!

Should consider installing a winch and carrying a winch anchor if you planning to offroad in a non-4x4 van.

There are also devices that attach front tire to rear tire so that when you spin the front tire the rear tire pulls you out. Worth a look.

My son began building his promaster 118 his junior year in high school. His internal framing is light weight tube steel and some aluminum. Parts are welded and or bolted. linered interior and coated iirc to air with sweating, and then he insulated, then secured with wood he stained, no shower, no fancy stuff. Everything but the wood walls and insulation can easily and quickly be removed. Floor is 1in insulated. He modded a pop top for another vehicle to go onto his. His braced and welded the interior prior to cutting up his roof. He has panels up top, but also plug in, for long corded panels that he can move around with sun. His awning is frankensteined. My son does crossfit, and other stuff, but on road he cant have so much stuff. So he made his own add on awning that doubles as a pull up bar, and fold out rack. Hes mostly doing body weight now, and bands on the rack. His new project is a used uhaul. Hes planning on swapping a diesel, 4x4 conversion, pass through from box to cab, and also tow a trailer with a bike or atv inside, so he can have more comfort. Hes saving still and paying off a piece of land, 5 acres. Hes planning to build a tinyhouse eventually. You kids all have time on your side! Enjoy the process!

Hello Tory Delory. I've had my van since 2o20. It sat in my driveway for about two years. I only got 'really' started building a few months ago. I had the same idea to try to get some building done in Quartzsite during RTR but I just ended up spending 3 days at Dome Rock. Went to RTR 2 of those days but headed to Phoenix so I can get more accomplished @my cousin's house. Maybe I'll see you on the road some day. Be SAFE out there and Thank you for sharing. 😎

In Brighton we have a couple of warehouse/garage/co-working spaces. If you can find an outdoor storage space, it's easier to back into the space. Should have electricity. Ask for a unit at the far end of the lot. One new storage facility here has a drive thru covered unloading area. Similar ones may let you set up shop to work.

When I was a trucker, I'd get 2 water bottles. Open a new one, pour some into a waste bottle- put tooth brush in, shake it clean. Do your thing, swish fresh water in your mouth, spit in waste bottle. Put tooth Bush in fresh bottle, shake clean, dispose of both. Easy

I see you're in Vegas and so am I. I've been in construction for 30ish years so if you need anything, tools, advice, or help feel free to reach out. I get wanting to do everything yourself, believe me that's been the keynote anthem of my life, but you can't always do it alone. Also I own a 20 acre patch in Kingman AZ with a 2000sqft shop that is 20 miles outside of town, it is secluded enough that you can dork it up to your hearts content without anyone bothering you and close enough that you're not completely stuck in the middle of nowhere, that you're welcome to use if you decide stranded in the desert isn't any fun anymore.

There is nothing wrong with accepting some help here and there - you have such a big fan base and following - leverage that. There is nothing wrong with trusting the process but it seems like the process is dragging you down so much :/ It's cold where you are now and it's mildly a pain. But if you don't done soon it's going to be scorching hot and that's even harder to deal with.

Hey Tory, luv your videos. I'm looking at building out my first van. What I'm doing is renting a drive up storage unit that has a light. I can pull up right in front of the unit. Have a workbench just inside the door. I can hookup a light socket plug receptacle and use an extension cord to charge up my electrics while I work right there. I can't spend the night there, as they do have a closing time. But the drive up storage unit does check a lot of boxes for me. There are other renters here doing woodwork and such directly from their storage lockers in daylight hours. The cost of the storage unit isn't that high. In San Jose CA a 5x10 is in the neighborhood of $100-$140... with deals where you get the first couple months for like $80/month. Anywho, just wanted to share my idea. Best of luck to you!
