"How Homer’s Depression Helped Him Find God"
Episode: Hello Gutter, Hello Fadder
*The footage and images featured in this video are for commentary and education which are protected under the Fair Use laws of the United States Copyright Act of 1976.
Inspired by the Love of Jesus Christ
Verse of the Day (as related to the topic of this video):
"Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart
And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him,
And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”
- Proverbs 3:5-6 (AMP)
A movie I highly recommend: The Gospel According to Matthew (starring a very animated and engaging acting performance by Bruce Marchiano, who plays Jesus). This is a word-for-word adaptation that has a unique take on the body language and charisma of Jesus, and also makes it easier to understand and quicker to read the story. I am hopeful that this movie gives you peace, love, hope, security, comfort, and answers, as it did me, and continues to do to this day. God bless you.

Thanks for doing this. As of now I don’t know if I even classify myself as a Christian anymore (right now I’m somewhat agnostic) because my faith in God and mostly organized religion in general had been tainted by people who have caused harm all for the name of their faith, and I don’t think I can ever go back to the person that I was. But now I do know that whether or not there is something out there, I know that I won’t waste my time here on this planet and live and do good things for not only myself but for my friends, family, and strangers. Okay I saw your vídeo to the end, and I am saying this as someone that believes in God. I am happy you found meaning though God, just as I would be happy if you found meaning in yourself. My problem with this video, is this idea that people find meaning though God only. Towards the whole video, you make it clear that, if we believe in God, and preach his words, we will find meaning and happiness. I think that, the world of the lord can be used for that, just like Buddism, science, art... everything can be a way to find meaning and happiness. But none is the only way. When you start the video saying "I want to make people watching to believe in God" with the prospect that it will teach and inspire, and even make people step it and find meaning, it sounds a little simplistic in my eyes. I don't think you are wrong for wanting to spreed the lord words, after all that is a lot of beauty in the Bible, but my main problem with religion is, this idea it is the only way that works, and the only thing that will always work. Is this mentality that, caused so many to fear God, that made many suffer in the hands of religion. Because like everything used to bring good, it can bring harm. I think we found the same life conclusions at the same time, because I being following you for a while, and the moment when you came back and expressed to had found meaning and explained how we don't need success and adoration from others, was the exact day I came to the same conclusion. But apparently we found meaning in different ways. You found it with God, and I found it in hipnoses and meditation. Both are valid ways to find our way, and each worked well for us. I dedicated years of my life to God. Reading, praying, preaching. And it never brought me this level of inner peace, in fact it only caused me shame and pain. And you could say, I was guided badly, or that I did it wrong, but their worlds were the same as yours, the readings were the same testament, the only difference was that, religion was always Burried in words of intolerance and prejudice, something I don't think is your case. But after learning that religion itself was flawed, and I only the words of the lord should be heard, I still didn't found myself. Because to some people, what you call God is meditation, to others is therapy, to me was understanding who I was. Right now, I fully believe in a God, but I don't think he is sentient, or really have any plans for all of us. I think he observes us, and decides when is our time to go or not, but he will never direct interject, but he might gives us a gut feeling for doing something. At the end of the day, I am happy to see that you are happy. I am glad you found yourself by any means necessary. I not saying any of this to make you feel bad, or start a fight, or even to be insensitive. I just think, is important to keep in mind the world isn't black and white, and that we should always look in the shades of gray. What works for some, won't work for others, and that is okay. We shouldn't expect people to think like us. Never feel shame on actions that don't hurt others, never to be so hard on ourselves for not do something g flawlessly. The answer to me is balance, and I think everyone has their own answers Anyway, have a wonderful day, and thank you for this video.

@@DepressedGato It's a shame you had to go through that. God is really an interesting concept that can be used by humans in various ways. This isn't me saying He's real or not. At the end of the day, the actions and words someone else says only have meaning if we give them such meaning. If someone tells you "don't be X or you will go to Y" you dictate how much you care about someone saying that. Do not let people deprived of love lose the love you possess. I'm agnostic but my interpretation of a God would be of pure love. And you only truly believe in Him if you start loving yourself, because, He made you with love. By doing so, you'll also be loving one another. And no religion, ethnicity, sexuality, etc. will get in the way of that. Stay strong, I wish all of you luck out there.

U and I may have different perspectives, and I may not be religious as I thought I would... But I still respect people's perspective cause I know I believe in the universe and I could just listen to other people who are actually worth my time... I have no idea why youtube recommended me this video. I still like theology and philosophy, despite having been an atheist for many years. This wasn't an argument for God, it was a run through a few fallacies, with a lot of "I know this won't convice everyone"

@@thesciencefurry It’s honestly kind of upsetting. I loved his older videos discussing hidden messages and themes in shows you probably wouldn’t think to be all that meaningful. Now it’s more preacher like, and as an atheist it really isn’t my thing at all. I’m glad he still has a lot of support but I personally think this might be the last video of his I watch.

@@Z_ayy Same here, basically. Really annoyed at the misrepresentation of the "If god is real, why is there bad in the world?" question. It's a question about why if god is both omnipotent and benevolent, why is there bad in this world. There being bad in this world can be explained if god is benevolent or if he is omnipotent, but not if he is both.

@@camelopardalis84 basically, the God doesn't control our current world. This world we live in now is controlled by the devil, because the God wants to show us how it is when people decide on their own, without God's help, but with devil's temptaintions. it is because the God gave us free will, he didn't programmed us as robots without a choice of going the opposite way (and so the First People did). The devil used to be an angel who rebelled and said that he can rule the world better than God does, so God let him show his skills. As we can see, he does that poorly. And the God said that soon (don't ask me when, maybe read the interpretation of king's dream from Daniel's 2 chapter from the Bible) it will be enough of devil's work and he will crush all the bad and all that cool stuff. i'm not the believer myself yet, but here's some Bible explanaition for you

It's worth pointing out that the verse in John 10:38 is not saying that we don't have to believe in Christ, we must believe in Jesus. But that the works that He did should be evidence that He was who He said he was, from and one with the Father, and that we should believe in Him.

Before I converted to Catholicism. My last jump was Taoism to God. Hence my photo with the design. The Eastern Religions and Spiritual stuff is the last stage before people convert. From what I've been told. I know someone who was a Buddhist and went Catholic. It's hard to go back when you realise the truth on everything. So I understand how you wanna save people after, cause you do, you want everyone to experience the same joy and hope. Most importantly the beauty of the faith.

it doesn't sit right with me to call "other gods" "false gods". i do have to preface that, it have not finished watching this video, and that the message that this video wants to spread, is probably positive, but i just dont think its morally right to call other religions bad just because they differ from yours. especially when this kind of self-improvement through religion message can be applied to more than christianity.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I recently have been dealing with this. I believed that Gods presence in my life meant the absence of problems and hardships. Through tools like the Bible App and of course the bible itself, I was able to understand that God loves me. He’s there with me in my problems and I can ask him for help. It’s hard when you think about how you’d even begin to love and support other people when you feel you need all the love and support you can get. But I’ve found, when I give it to God, like without realising it, I find myself naturally pouring into other people effortlessly. This makes me feel so good and I marvel at how God was able to do it. God is amazing and he loves me and you more than we can ever know. I pray everyone at some point is able to understand this and realise we’ve had the greatest ally, supporter, father, lover, protector and friend all along. Hang in there guys, God is with us and hasn’t forgotten us ❤
