The State shouldn’t be taxing property in the first place! Between sales taxes and fees, this State government is onerous and greedy!

The new "law" violates the U.S. Constitution (and the Colorado State Constitution)! E.g., "No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges and immunities of citizens of the ... state." - Privileges and Immunities Clause, 14th Amendment, U. S. Constitution. 🦇

@LeonardThomas-up5ih 0 seconds ago TABOR is a part of the Colorado State Constitution since 1992. Voting in Proposition HH, or not, will have no effect upon its sanctity. Only a Colorado Constitutional Referendum can change the Constitutionally protected effect of TABOR or any other part of the Colorado State Constitution. A Colorado Constitutional change requires 2/3 vote of every voter in Colorado to take effect. An Amendment cannot produce 50% of the TABOR protection, a life. liberty, or happiness. Proposition HH is lower law produced by the Colorado Assembly challenging supreme law in Colorado. Proposition HH seeks an impossible result with lower level legislatively created law, subordinate to the Colorado State Constitution which contains TABOR.

If, Proposition HH is considered legally valid, and Colorado Taxpayers "pass" it, then the Effect of Proposition HH for Colorado Taxpayers in TY2023 refunds for 2024 - Duration 1 Fiscal year, before God knows what Polis and the Colorado legislature will do next! AGAIN - PROPOSITION HH WILL ONLY SOLVE COLORADO TAXPAYERS' TABOR REFUND FOR 1 YEAR, 2024, BEFORE GOVERNOR POLIS AND HIS CAPTIVE COLORADO LEGISLATURE TAKE A MASSIVE "BITE" EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER. According to the Colorado Sun, the TABOR surplus for Colorado taxpayers is estimated to be more than $3 billion, up to $800 million more than state economists predicted in March 2023. The state may now have to refund nearly $1 billion more than originally expected, nonpartisan Legislative Council Staff and the governor’s Office of State Planning and Budgeting told state lawmakers. The exact amount of the refund checks will be determined by whether voters pass Proposition HH in November 2023, a 10-year property tax relief plan from Democrats in the General Assembly and Gov. Jared Polis. If Proposition HH passes, the refund checks could be roughly $850 for single filers and $1,700 for joint filers 1. The Pagosa Daily Post reports that under HB23-1311, Colorado taxpayers could expect to receive a refund of $661 for single filers and $1,322 for joint filers. Final refund amounts will be determined based on updated revenue statistics 2. Please note that these are estimates and the actual refund amounts may vary based on updated revenue statistics.

Now when you move, you are marked-to-market (unless you are 55 or over; see Prop. 19), but if you continue to live in your house at least you can forecast your property taxes and not have an unpleasant surprise.
