Thank you for taking me on your hike up half dome.As a child my dad was a forest ranger and I always thought it would be neat but was too young to make that hike. Then I snapped my fingers twice and life happened. Now I am a 57-year-old grandfather unable to physically make that hike so thank you very much.

We did half dome hike with a 9yr old in 1988 in one day! I was terrified but so glad I had the opportunity' The cables will challange you!. Another great hike is the high country via Tuolumne Meadows & Tanya Lake...most beautiful lake I've ever seen & swam in. Departure horses (or you hike) took us up to the Lake Vogalsang 10K altatude. Had a mom bear & 3 cubs show up at 3AM. Scarey but cool as we were in tent & Mama was pushing on my head thru tent wall🥵 Banging pans & whistles don't work!!!!! We're still alive...lol They're sevral lodges throughout the 1-2 week hike back down to the valley. They have hot showers, scrub board laundry & food! I saw things most people on this earth have no idea exits! Slid down the rocks on river in safe places & met the most interesting & kind people...but that was the 80's..lol

Awesome….my hands were sweating when you went up those cables….I would be afraid of falling. You two are brave!

A beautiful park in many ways, but when Melissa and Nathan show up it becomes special! You bring us along for the hike of a lifetime. The views and scenery are mind blowing!!! So glad to see you both on top of the world! Half dome? Conquered! Great job, guys!

Hey guys, I’ve done half dome! One of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever done in my life! I’ve also done clouds rest. It’s the high granite ridge to the north of half dome that rises to over 10k feet in elevation! California is a spectacular state and Yosemite is its crown jewel! I’m so happy you all are experiencing the state I was born and lived in for 62years of my life!

My hands were sweating watching you two climb! I’ve been there when I was young with family and didn’t see the waterfall. Epic, and a natural high you won’t forget. I climbed in Banff to the upper hot springs and was so happy when I went back to work totally worth it. You can show the kids the video they’ll love that they had a babysitter! ☕️🇺🇸👍🏻‼️🥂

I love the running guy. There’s always one of them. You’re sucking gas and they’re doing a final prep for the Leadville 100. I did this hike a couple of weeks ago, staying overnight at LYV. I prepped and had watched videos but nothing prepares you for seeing this thing in real life. It’s huge and intimidating. Sub dome is also pretty crazy. Im sooooo glad I did it but … I’m not sure I’d do it again!

I had the incredible chance to do this hike this weekend. My friend, who won the lottery, brought me with her. I never really imagined doing this hike, because I am not a fit person and I never really thought I could do it. I made it to the base of sub-dome but we had to turn around there as a storm had rolled in and we were hearing thunder and seeing menacing clouds above us. I'm not sure I would've done sub-dome and the cables if the weather had been on our side, because just getting to sub-dome was the hardest thing I've ever done. My friend is so frustrated and sad not to have been able to do the cables, she has waited years for this permit. I wish it was easier to get one so we could go back and try again! This time, I'd be more prepared. Thank you for sharing your journey!

It's still the same! I remember being in awe of how many people spent their lives improving that trail so we can all hike it! There are a lot of things you think of on your way up. On the way down you just think of your knees. We used to run down as well. For whatever reason, running was easier. Happy anniversary you two!

Aww I love that you travel “with your dad”. I lost my mom from cancer when she was 50 and I have been traveling with her ever since for your same reasons. In my family we “See it once for ourselves, blink, and see it the second time for our parents.” Thank you for sharing this touching moment with us. 💗

We filmed us coming down, but the video was already so long we didn’t show it. Coming down was much easier than going up.

It takes months for the physical and mental training to do Half Dome and for you guys to do it on a whim takes tremendous spirit and determination. Half Dome is no joke. This is a memory you will never forget and I am so happy you achievement! I am so happy you made it to the top (gloves are key). Truly amazing and to do your vows up there even makes it more special. It was amazing!

Your amazement at being so close to the falls triggered a memory for me. One day, travel to Iguazu Falls in Brazil. The engineering to view nature is incredible. The falls are far bigger than Niagra, and more grand. And you stand on scaffolding 3 feet above the falls! Hopefully, you can add that to your bucket list. Traveling is the best! Enjoy!

You two are truly the most amazing people on KZread, I was thinking your bucket list has to be getting smaller, then I thought she will check it off, then maybe add something else in its place lmbo. Just watching the determination in you both to accomplish this hike was truly amazing. I want to thank you both for allowing us to be apart of your amazing journey. I had to stop every few feet to catch my breath. People were passing me left and right. I have so much respect for your ability to have done this!

Been going to that place since I was a little kid. My favorite National Park. Winter with snow in Yosemite is magical. Backpacking is an adventure and met some cool people. Bears are problematic when camping up there, but all magical!

I felt I was there because of the two of you. I don’t think I’ll ever see it in my lifetime. Thank you!

This brought me to tears. what a beautiful love story, sweet memorial to your father, and a amazing experience! I too have lost my Dad. I take him with my in all our RV travels as well.

I have watched tons of videos from fulltime RV channels about National Parks and hikes and what everyone does and where they stay during their visit, in order to make the most of the time we spend there when we go. 3 years ago we went to the Badlands, Wind Cave, Yellowstone, The Arch. 2 years ago we did Acadia. We leave for Glacier National Park on July 29. Going to the sun road has been one of my favorites. But that was an AMAZING VIDEO!!! Thank you so much for sharing, congratulations for making it to the top. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME job on the video and the hike!! I love it.

Same. I will never do it and wouldn't have made it past the first steep set of stairs going up the boulders with drop offs! Great to watch them do it!

Oh my goodness! I would’ve watch your kids!! I live in Sonora and would have loved to come up to Yosemite!! I’m a retired RN/Paramedic.. but so glad you found someone to watch them!! I did the hike in the eighties.. plan was to backpack to the top, (you could than) maded it to the bottom of the cables, we camped where you ended the video, than went to the top the next morning 😃 thank you for taking us along! I have been following you since before your Alaska trip. This video was far and away the best video you have produced. It was really outstanding. I had a similar experience with the Grand Canyon hiking down and up. My parents took us to the Grand Canyon in 1963 and we started down Bright Angel trail but we had to go back up as we were leaving early next morning. I promised myself I would come back and complete the round trip. It took over 50 years but I did it and was convinced my dad was with me. We got a permit and off we went. The sense of accomplishment is exhilarating!

So glad you had the opportunity and made it to the top of Half Dome and back. I think my window on scaling Half Dome has closed. I’d have to shed 70 pounds and get in climbing shape. The last time I hiked by was backpacking with a friend down from Tuolumne Meadows for him to complete the last segment of the John Muir Trail that was on his bucket list (and mine). We camped in Little Yosemite Valley and had bear encounters, but did not do the side trip up the cables. Congratulations!

Glad you made it to the top! It's been more years since I have made that hike. Too many people now( and bad knees). Stay safe all of you.

I just wanted to say, from someone who is not only from California but from someone who has lived and worked in Yosemite (valley) your family has captured this park beautifully! I've had people all over praying for me. . *Chemotherapy (8 rounds. . 3 or 4 dose's per round) *Double mastectomy & lymphnodes removed *Radiation (33 rounds) *Breast reconstruction surgery (major & both sides!) *More Chemotherapy. . Except it's a different one called Immunotherapy (6 rounds) *Another Double Breast reconstruction (Which j just had. . 5 days ago) *one more surgery and I'm done! Hallelujah! Praise God! I couldn't have done sny part of It without Him! Make sure you do your self exams. . Not just Mammo's. I found my mass myself ans catching early gives you the best chances for survival! Tell everyone you know. . It could save their lives! Thank you for the well wishes and prayers they are greatly appreciated 🤍

What a fantastic memory making day for y'all! Your love for each other spills out like the waterfalls you went by on your way up that beautiful, God created enormous solid granite mountain! I won the lottery in 2020.. trained, made reservations, bought tickets, then COVID shut down everything and Yosemite canceled our camping reservations and I watched as our date of 5 June came and went and we never made the climb. Fwd to 2021, I won the lottery for the second time, this time we actually made it and it was incredible! We also did a few other hikes while there with sunrise on the top of Clouds Rest being the the most memorable!

I’ve been watching you guys for years and every time you would go on these cool hikes I would think, they need to hike Half Dome in Yosemite and now you have I’m so proud of you guys. This has been my favorite video so far, thank you for coming to California and thank you for hiking Half Dome. I wish I knew you needed a baby sitter cause I live only an hour away from the South Gate of Yosemite. Now you really need to drive the California Coast line all the way up to Oregon on Highway 1

You both are wonderful and that hike really shows the love you have for each other.

Nate and Marissa; congratulations congratulations on conquering halftone. Congratulations on your 10th anniversary. Wow… What a feat… And Marissa, just know your father was with you every step of the way looking down on you and Nate with pride and love. Thank you thank you thank you for sharing with all of us this experience. It certainly brought it back to my wife and I… We climbed up there three years ago… It might be time to do it again. We are far luckier than the two of you because we only live four hours from Yosemite in the Napa Valley. Again congratulations. Very proud of you both
