Mind you, that XC bike's quite pricey as well... But yeah, some people own 180mm enduro bikes and can't do a bunny hop. I guess it depends on their discipline to keep progressing...

@@ghazypangerang6118sometimes i feel weird. I can only bunnyhop like 20 25 cm (maybe a little more) . Cant wheelie. I did do some xups , onefoots and onehands, even some nice nohands. Altho didnt do them for a long time because I did crash. I am weird. Edit: i am on a 170mm enduro

Nah, they won't survive the harsh landings from getting air. Breaks won't live too long either. XC bikes use ultra light, double piston, 160mm rotor disk breaks. You'll scorch those poor things.

I totally get what you're saying. I ride a 140mm travel yt Jeffsy, recently bought a 100mm Scott spark rc race for training. End up riding the 100mm more than the 140mm due to the fun factor.

Watching Olly's Mic Ride with Deaks, they were talking about where they want to go post Lockdown. One idea was to ride 4 different places around the world. Maybe you should all do an XC race somewhere? Maybe on Mullets, wearing Mullet wigs - Blake's got a rather nice wig he'll lend ya! Matt did a day's XC racing as a corporate entry with his bike sponsor (Trek?) and some of it looked proper knarly! You 3 could be the British ex-rampage team, or something, following on from you talking with Olly, saying you want to do something different to Rampage this time!

I finally understand the term 'downcountry'.

"It's like 100 mm of fun". I somehow feel that this has been said to me...can't remember in which context 🤔

I have Spark 970 2021. I upgraded everytthing recently: 4 piston brakes, shorter cranks, 120mm Pike fork, better groupset, high handlebars, agressive tyres, wider rim wheels. Also I got rid of the lockout levers and cables and replaced it with a single seatpost lever because I did not need of using the lockout ever, and I am not racing so I do not mind of couple exta seconds per climb. Now the bike is 120 mm of travel both rear and front, and I am totally happy with it! It feels quite trail-ish to me. Actually it is so fun to ride!

I've a scott scale 960 HARDTAIL 2016 edition. Mostly stock parts and a few cheap swaps like a wide narrow singke chain ring and got rid of front gears, had to cut 5 inch of my seat pole now its EPIC, SUCH A BOZZ BRAND!! I LOVE SCOTT!! NICE VIDEO BRO!!

good comercial for scott. :) very good job, brendan. Rarely sposor-duties are as fun to watch as this one!

yes man!! it's a superb machine. my spark 2019 RC blasts everything i throw at it. Welsh trails such as Coed Llandegla, Coed y Brenin, everything in Betws-y-coed Marin/Penmachno and off-piste stuff smashed and the climbing ability is superb. Raced the south downs way on it it too, a pinch over 10hrs non stop and it was purring along.

"brought the spark back into my riding." Haha funny. I'd say that joke was genius but that wouldnt make sense.

Bought a 2019 RC last year to race some xc on it this year. obvs never happened, but loving it anyway on my local trails. Very capable bike!

I've heard a few folk say that the drive towards big travel enduro bikes has kinda taken some of the fun (and connection to the trail) out of riding, and these shorter travel bikes just bring that back in spadefuls without being too white-knuckle (combines the best bits of hardtail and full-sus). Definitely going shorter travel for my next bike!

Pick up a used 2016 tomorrow. Super stoked. Weird, It's almost like this video arrived in my recommended vids just as I needed it. I saw the video and immediately started searching for this bike, not the other way around. I thought only Siri was listening to my convos offline now we got Brendan too 😆

Nice bike Allen. With the shock locked out it should, in theory, be able to take on the back yard dirt jumps if you can get that saddle out of the way.

i Have a Scott Spark 740 120mm from 2014 and a Rockshox sektor 130mm and it rides like a dream and as you stated it lightweight AF felt almost sketchy jumping big stuff

100/120 mm bike is pretty much ideal for 85% of UK trails.

I wish I had that XC-Bike like you do 😢

it honestly looks like a 140mm fork to be honest... if you look at the 34 of the scott spark non RC (120mm travel front and back)

Doesnt mean much what it looks like, as Fox forks dont necessarily bottom out at the crown - depending on model and model year, travel stops at least 10mm before the crown. Same is btw true for some RS forks, only they actually put a marker on the stanchion that informs you about it.

I reckon adding a dropper would make a huge difference.

I have a Spark 120mm travel and i can't stop bottoming out on the smallest little lip, i weight 61kilos, and my fork and shock pressure with the right ammount of sag, any suggestions?

This should be a DH category! Short travel trail bikes DH for juniors and semi pros. Xtrail! You can only run standard setups eg single crown 140mm travel or less.
