Jason Williams, better known for his nickname "White Chocolate", was one of the most innovative, flashiest players in NBA history. While his NBA career was not as great as he hoped, he still brought his own flair into a changing NBA landscape. Hope you enjoy!

I always loved pass first point guards like Jason Williams. I remember seeing a House of Highlights video of him reacting to his career highlights and his work ethic to create those flashy passes was insane. Talking about how he’d spend hours running at a hoop, going for a layup and doing a behind the back pass mid air while aiming at a target his dad painted on his garage door. It’s a great video and I recommend people check it out.

Dude was amazing. Ask any point guard from that era and they all respected him. The Sac chapter ended with beef with the coaching staff because they wouldn’t let him get past his last mistakes. I remember by the end, they were playing him in just the 1st and 3rd quarters. It was crazy. He could play lights out in the 1st quarter and then be pulled NO MATTER WHAT. No one can play like that. And he had shown vast improvement in his shot selection and decision making. No one could talk down on his talents. Then he adjusted his game to play with any system. Dude was a team player and everyone loved playing with him. Coming from where he came from, dude is a true Hall of Famer for real fans. And his skills were undeniable.

    1) He is a career below 40% shooter. Hes a bad shooter and a bad 3 point shooter. 2) He consistently made bad plays his whole career. He started every game for each game he played with the Kings. 3) He was super erratic. He'd .ake a flashy play then make 3 bad basic plays. There is a reason the team got better once he was gone and they got a more consistent PG. And the Kings themselves got better as his play time decreased.

Negusis 85 Wrong. He actually LED the mba in assist to turnover ration in Memphis. He won a TITLE with Miami as a VERY dependable point guard who kept defenses honest with his ability to attack in transition, deep range on his jump shot, & passing ability. He was in no way, “erratic throughout his career”. Do your research more thoroughly before u write statements, buddy. I also never said he didn’t start for the Kings. He started everywhere he went as to be a starting point guard on nba rosters for over 10 years PROVES that a person is elite. He was erratic his second year as the year went on. His third year he was playing behind the eight ball with coach Adelman as he would play the 1st and third quarters no matter how good or bad he was doing. Bobby Jackson would play the second and fourth quarters. That was on the coach. Jason changed his game by that point and just wanted a fair chance to play. He could play perfect and still not see any time but these pre-allotted minutes. It was beyond frustrating. Hence the trade. U could’ve put the same Jason williams with the mike Bibby minutes and opportunity to play through mistakes & the team record would’ve been the same.

Like so many other players, he probably never reached his full potential because he was getting high instead of working on his shooting and other aspects of his game. Still, probably the most entertaining passer in NBA history. I put him above some of the guys you mentioned because he won a chip with Miami as a guy who contributed.

If teams got points for flash, then Williams could have been a legit HOFer, but they don't and overall he was an average point guard at best. Don't get me wrong, there is value in exciting fans but it doesn't win games. I loved Williams growing up as he completely dominated ESPN's "Top 10 Plays of the Week" on a regular basis, but that often doesn't translate to wins in the end. He still deserves credit for being one of the most entertaining point guards of his generation and had a long career. His dribbling and passing (aside from the turnovers) is borderline legendary.

I dont think this kid ever really understood how good he was himself. He was never forced to maximize his ability. Coaches appeared to settle for his passing ability; never really relinquishing green light to William's. So his game was hornaced by coaches with a short leash. They lacked confidence in his thinking ability. I believe he had the potential to go to the HOF. Tremendous passer.

Longtime Grizzlies fan here: I remember when he was traded here. People want to act like it was an unfair trade which it was but Bibby basically refused to play for us. Anyway I remember the word on street was he was talented but undisciplined and wildly inconsistent. The person that turned his career around was Hubie Brown- the Grizzlies coach basically became a father figure for him. He took him under his wing. If it wasn’t for Hubie, he would’ve been in even more trouble and/or been out of the league much sooner.

Guys like vince carter, tmac, steve francis, jwill, cwebb or kobe made all those signature moves that change the way that nba's game was played and we all remembered to the point that all of us tried to emulated them off the court and also inspired the best NBA PG'snowadays.
