Why does Kellen not mention GSC Tradebacks ? I made a lot of stadium plays with Tradebacks Hypno and it was also so difficult to check. Also can stand up to Mewtwo with an Amensia + Ice Punch + Rest set to play for a freeze or stall Mewtwo. Im not sure if it be better than Tauros but GSC Tradebacks Hypno got significants buffs for RBY just like Alakazam and Gengar and Clefable

I always liked Hypno and I am glad it was able to carve a niche in the first few generations. It is sad that it got left behind by power creep but so many Pokémon have at this point there isn't any shame in that.

I never have gave up on hypno and never will. It might not be the best but it makes me happy and I love the Pokémon.

Hypno actually deserves a LOT of credit in gen 1, it's one of the few pokemon that can have quite a large range of versatile sets! It's stats and move pool allow it to do things other Psychics can't in the hands of a skilled player, an example of this is when Alakazam, Starmie, and Chansey find them selfs in a complete stalemate spamming Psychic, Thunder wave, and recovery moves on each other just wasting pp while neither side wins the exchange. Hypno in that scenario has the ability to do something wild and boost up to +6 with Meditate and then blast the other Psychics away with Hyper beam or even the unique 30% flinch Headbutt. Its also bulky enough to actually serve as a defensive Psychic type with Reflect. And if you just wanted a mixed attacking unboosted Psychic type it can do that too.

Ah yes, Hypno. The Pokemon with the favourite character traits of many doujin artists: *mind control* and *ugly bastard*

Honestly disappointing, because IMO, Hypno is a really cool Pokemon with a neat stat spread. A defensive pure-Psychic type isn't something you see often. Maybe a slight stat boost or a strong signature ability could give it some lower tier viability, as well as access to moves like Knock Off and Recover.

or an item 'pendulum' like thick club, when used by Hypno or Drowzee, status move accuracy is raised by 50%, then hypnosis is 90% accurate. with its middling speed tier and no offensive power, it wouldn't be broken at all. and cannot be used by smeargle

Ive been watchin your vids for years now, just wanted to congratulate you on the success. The quality of each episode has gone up so much over the years it’s incredible. It could be really cool for Pokémon youve done in the last year or so but have important roles in the current meta to do like “updates” . Like link to the old vid at the start and then probably explain how gen 7 ended up for them and how gen 8 is goin? That’d probably also be good for the algorithm to have lots of people going back and rewatching your old vids as well

The way Hypno went through the tiers each generation, it was kind of hypnotic.

It's worth noting Hypno becomes absolutely amazing in RBY Trabebacks (Gen 1 pokemon bringing their expanded movepools from Gen 2 as long as the move existed back in RBY). It gains access to Amnesia and the elemental punches becoming one of the most dangerous threats in the tier and the best Amnesia sweeper after the big M.

Ah, yes, Hypno. The Pokemon starring a side quest where we needed to save a little girl and whose Pokedex entry in FireRed says that it took a child it hypnotized.

Been waiting for this one for a long time considering how often Hypno is brought up in videos as a UU staple in earlier gens.

This is my fav gen 1 psychic type. Back when i was 7 years old i had a hypno with psychic dream eater headbutt and hypnosis. It swept the entire elite 4 and blue many times for me. I love you FSG and Hypno!

If Castform had it's ability buffed somehow it would be a really cool 'mon. Imagine if forecast added base stats based on what weather was in play: Water = sp.def (or HP?): Adding it to the "bulk water" archtype. It doesn't need an attack buff because thunder, hurricane, and water's good attacks like scald/surf. Sand = Def: Add a sandstorm Castform. Give it better defense which couple's with sandstorm's passive sp.def since it would turn into a rock type. Hail = Sp. Attack: Hyper offense Castform. Have it be firing off icebeams and weather balls at 100 base attack or higher, it has trash speed anyways. - Sun = Speed? (Raising attack would be trash) Sun has some really high base power moves like solar beam, overheat, flamethrower, etc. Give it a speedboost and fire typing to hit off STAB fire moves. a different take on the chlorophyll sweepers. Overall, Castform has trash base stats and it probably the worst pokemon suffering from 4 move slot syndrome. Imagine if he was the ultimate weathermon, that would be ideal.

I wouldn’t mind a Hypno that could play offense while on defense. I feel it really should have an ability to make Hypnosis 100% accurate like Spore.

Rule 34 is just an art community, nothing else. It is very known for its freedom of expression, as you can find pretty much anything there if you look hard enough That doesn't mean the site doesn't have favorite picks, like hypno for its relatively ease of use.

Well, how would I improve Hypno? One of the things I would do, what many SwSh Pokemon received, and that is turning Event Exclusive moves it had to level up moves or eggmoves such as: - Baton Pass - Belly Drum - Wish The next thing I would do is replace its Inner Focus ability with something different. We have seen GF sometimes change abilities on Pokemon for seemingly at random like the Legendary Beast all getting Inner Focus. I don't think Hypno will ever archive anything as a special Psychic Type with all the buffs Alakazam gets and the existence of Mushana who is far superior to it defensively. Perhaps a signature move that allows it to use it's special defense as special move. Unless such a move takes Special Defense boosts into account, I highly doubt it will make it viable. But I think the things I mentioned would make it at least better. At least I won't have to play Pokemon Showdown to use Hypno, an already bad Pokemon, to it's fullest potential.

i wish they increased the bst of many of these old pokemon drastically. theres a lot of mons where their highest stat is 90 and thats not gonna be good for anything in any format

I love the idea of a Special Defense Body Press! But I think your suggested restriction wouldn't be necessary, as after all, Body Press can be buffed with Iron Defense as well.

Parasect proved that, and it has a 100% accuracy sleep move unlike Hypno

It's so cool to see Gen 4 UU packed with so many mons like Slowbro, Hypno, Lickilicky, but they all have sliiightly different things and carve out a unique usage

Thanks FalseSwipeGaming Hypno is my favorite Psychic-Type Pokémon, i remember Hypno in my Pokémon Stadium 2 Poké Cup team, is Physical Hypno with Shadow Ball, Submission, Rest and Curse. Well other memory of Hypno is in Pokémons Fire Red and Leaf Green and reenforcement of Hypno's creepypastas. Hypno was a pretty good Pokémon in First Generations even have a niche in OU, but i Buffed Hypno gave him a Mega Evolution. Mega Hypno gain the Bad Dreams ability and have good stats of SP Attack, Attack, a better Defense, Monster SP Defense and a Little bit of Speed.

Smh you didn't talk about GSC Tradeback Hypno. That thing was an absolute menance in RBY.

Hypno is also known as the "ugly bastard" pokemon to many.

Hypno is one of many pokemon that would benefit from a counter item to the assualt vest a vest that boosts defense by 1.5x and giving it more physical attack could help too. A +20 to its base attack would help a lot. Maybe also give it access to something like agility.

Hypno is my favorite Psychic pokemon. I've used it since leafgreen. I even beat the Elite 4 and Champion of Moon with it.

Considering that almost every Gen's 'Dex entry mentions it's Hypnosis, it'd be cool if it had an ability that reflected that. Something like increasing the accuracy of Hypnosis or automatically dealing damage to a pokemon it sleeps? Maybe burning sleeping pokemon for like 1/10th of it's HP every turn? This would let it Wish/Protect Sleep-Stall and rack up residual damage while staying healthy. It wouldn't be much of a niche but it'd be something. Edit: From the other comments I learned one of these abilities already exists, it is called Bad Dreams and it is Darkrai's ability so it'll never happen :(

I just find it strange how It’s UUBL in Gen 3.

I feel like both Drowsy and Hypno need some sort of update. Either another evolution, a mega, something. They are one of those older concepts that just need a little touch up to be back in peoples heads.

I don't care what anybody say I'm rolling with hypno definitely on my pokesquad
