In this video, I quiz you guys on your ability to make proper decisions in pro level gameplay in Rocket League. There are 10 questions that include both offensive and defensive situations. It's multiple choice with 3 options each time but only 1 of them being correct.

Pros are incredibly good at practically everything in Rocket League but it's extremely hard to just emphasize one of their many skills that they all have. Some say mechanics are more prevalent in pro Rocket League gameplay. Others say decision making is more prevalent in pro Rocket League gameplay. I believe they are both extremely important but decision making is slightly more important. The thing is, I consider my decision making ability to be extremely high compared to my rank. I think, given time, my decision making is somewhat close to that of the pros. However, what separates me from them so much in this aspect is the ability to make those decisions INSTANTLY. That is crucial to being able to compete at that level which is why I am not able to. Being able to make smart decisions doesn't do you any good in game if you're not able to make them instantly in the moment that it matters. That's why I definitely can't compete. This quiz, however, tests your ability to make these decisions give a short amount of time. It's still way more time than you would have in a real game but it's not infinite time to ponder and recap the situation as a whole. You also need to watch closely as the play develops leading up to the point where you make your decision.
This video is a similar but better version of a previous video I made titled Decision Mistakes Players Make At Every Rank In Rocket League. I overall made it easier to see the arrows and made everything look more attractive in this video compared to the last. If you guys enjoy this Rocket League Quiz series then I will for sure continue to make more. Thanks for supporting and watching!

To be fair the context matters a lot for some of these.. like #2 they were in comms so they could communicate the play, otherwise it would be difficult to know if satthew was going to be ready to pass upfield or if he should have dribbled it. Dribble would have been fine if satthew needed corner boost

Well, "I" would not go up the corner or the back wall, because "I" would just fall down without hitting the ball. For non-GCs it's probably better to go somewhere where you CAN actually be useful.

This was so fun! I used to study the ancient board game go using books of problems like this. These really help solidify my understanding of how to apply the fundamentals. Thanks so much and I look forward to your next one!
I'm a low gc and got all of them right, but this actually taught me so much. It gave me a much clearer vision of what I should be doing, and will help my positioning in those situations so much more than almost any other rl video I've seen. Awesome video idea dude
@SALEENS7GTR5

I'm in the same boat. I play a lot with a 1800+ who is used to stuff like this, but with me and our other low GC teammate, he doesnt get a chance to play fast bc we cant capitalize on his game-sense. I'm gonna watch this repeatedly and use this format in my replays to hopefully elevate my game sense.
You just won yourself a new subscriber. You are unbelievibly creative. I took a look at your channel and i was stunned of the high level montage and writing. You have a great youtube future waiting for you my man, and i can't wait to witness it. Good luck ♥️
Harder to do with pros since you aren’t used to having pro tm8s
For #2, dap already had momentum in the direction of where the pass might be, so if he's not paying enough attention and the team isn't in coms, our player pushing forward for the potential pass would probably cause a double commit. If you're in voice with your team, that play makes sense, but if not, it would make sense to take option C and rotate back in case of a weak clear or a contested passing lane. For 3, staying in for a backwall pass and assuming your last man back will be patient is a really risky gamble in most ranks and when you're not in voice with your team. I feel like you haven't set the context of the video well enough because the best answer depends on the rank and the team, and the selected answer for 2 and 3 are actually really bad choices for everything except the highest ranks or when you have a full team in voice. Even in champ I wouldn't make that decision because nobody is reliable as last man back and the guy making that pass will usually just go for backboard over goal and not the corner or double commit with the last guy back trying to field your pass back in.
@punkroller88
3 жыл бұрын
Thought the same about #2...
In regards to #10 (last one): It makes sense to me to go for that when you're in comms with your teammate(s), but when you're playing with randoms it can be very difficult to read what your teammate is intending, and could easily turn into looking like a ball chasing double commit, that might inadvertently tilt your teammate. Perhaps it's different at GC level (I'm speaking from the perspective of D3 lobbies) but I could foresee the typical trash talk 'Wow!' 'Okay' even IF I scored that.
0:00 man i love the Sunless Khan intro😂
I totally love the decision making quizzes. I've watched this and one of you other ones multiple times, they're super helpful.
i really liked this video!! made me rethink some of my own plays and got me motivated to practice those harder of the wall shots!
Great video wayton Suggestion: if you are thinking of continuing this series I feel that, instead of pausing the gameplay completely , you should slow it down so we can still get an idea of what's happening on the field. Whereas when it's stopped completely it's hard to tell the direction,speed orientation of the car/ball
This video will make me consider getting on the backboard more, thats one of my skills i need to work on ingame in order to improve quick
This is bad ass, Wayton. Might be my favorite of your videos!

Morgan Davies Exactly. Like the one where you turn up the wall and wait for the pass. Since when to teammates pass the ball? I solo queue and it’s just everyone trying to make a solo play or score a long shot. It it were me, i would rotate back as i know my team wouldn’t pass and i don’t trust them in defence. Basically all of them required trust in teammates and communion.

@@WaytonPilkin I love these kinds of videos and I think all the stuff was spot on. Although #10 was the only one I had a hard time agreeing with. It said he used a ton of boost, but it didn't really look like he used more than like ~30 with that twist. There didn't really seem to be any indication of how much boost he had before that moment so I don't know if he's got upwards of 70 after that, or bone dry at 0. So I think that one (I'm only C3 so take my thought with like a super small grain of salt lol) it seems like it comes down to comms. If Panda calls out low boost or something, then yeah going up for it definitely seems much better. But I think without those comms, like in solo queue, going up the middle on the right seems like the better alternative. Because even though his twist makes his aerial kind of awkward, I think I just have to respect my comm-less teammate's decision making that he wouldn't go for that with such low boost. But again, I'm only C3 so my input doesn't hold much water. Still a great video!
Dude, this video is so good. Such rewatchable content man.

Another great video Wayton, happy birthday aswell. I would say, try to grab situations from different levels for next time. Or maybe make this a series at each rank set. Explaining these situations, while interesting, doesn't provide much information to a normal player. A "Decision Making at Gold" video or diamond or play etc would be a very good series. kinda similar to Khan's why you suck at RL but with an actual good player
Keep the great work bro
I like this concept man. I struggle with decision making at my C1-C2 rank.

I feel that Wayton is waaaaaay underrated (pun intended) . I mean, look at his guiding content. Who else has told you things like: "You should hit the ball as early as possible while training" ?? I don't think anyone else has, I might be wrong. Anyways what I am trying to say is that he is filling out those little holes in knowledge that other guide creators haven't and I am really grateful. Give this man a cookie and a sub!

Definitely make this a series
we need more of this!!!
Great video Wayton. Maybe you have done it already.. but have you considered doing this for the various ranks? I get the reason that pros are way more consistent. BUT not all of us have the mechanicals to do what the pros do, and therefor affects our decision making. There are some plays I dont even consider as a result.
Should do more of these very interactive and educational

Very good video except you rarely see these type of plays in diamond and lower lobbies. So we're probably talking about 20% of the players who can do this consistently. But hey very informative and you never know I improve so much I can do these things as well one time :p

You’re totally right and thank you for the kind words. But I hope you understand that there’s no neutral rank I could use for these plays. No matter what, someone’s rank is going to be left out. I ended up choosing pro gameplay because, as I mentioned, their mechanics are way more consistent so you don’t have to take that factor into account so the decisions are based on the positioning itself rather than what you think your teammates and opponents are mechanically capable of. I can’t appease everyone with this type of video but I do my best by giving thorough explanations of why each decision was best so everyone can learn no matter their rank. Regardless, I’m glad I still helped you learn since that was the main point of the video. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
The world needs more of these
I agree with Jordan revak - it’s a great new idea for a video - keep coming up with these amazing ideas - stay safe everyone!!
I actually think in #4 going for the demo isn't bad at all. Sure, there's a lot of space between the shooter and the defender, but you're already supersonic and have boost pads available, so the demo is more likely, which would result in an open net. Also, I know this is a pro game, but if that were me, I'd definitely have more chances of getting that demo than doing anything meaningful on the backboard.
@AlgaeGaming
4 жыл бұрын
0 boost, would lose supersonic by turning. It could work, but it would just be a lot riskier, and your teammate will be assuming you're grabbing the 100 first, at which point you're late for the demo as the defender will have taken off. Taking the boost is good, and the fact that you can also get a good chance/pressure after makes it the best option. If the timings were just different, or you had boost left, demo would have been very good.
@koga-roblox2280
4 жыл бұрын
@@AlgaeGaming nah demo was much better the 2 other oppoments are out of the play and all your team gonna be first for them so if he can demo its will be goal an if he couldnt its will be insane hard shot to defend cuz he can shoot it completley down or completly high if he wouldve shot it down its ez save so if he shoot this at backboard,if the defender shoot it its pretty much only the kickoff guy to get back first if i will go backboard or demo and as u saw the defender missed so if its goes comleptly down from bounce(which is what happnend even with out the pass) the shooter can score and if it will bounce normally the kickoff guy should score it but when i choose A(backboard)1.if the defender gets it.its more time to recover than if u going for demo (even with no boost,dont understimate the power of little pads and flips,{learnt in in 1s})and as u saw the defender didnt got it its true that doesnt matter where he pass it, its a pass(or down to the shooter, or far for the kickoff guy) but lets be honest to take the risk that even a dia can block on the backboard(not toxic to rlcs he just missed it,so im saying u shouldnt think that he will miss) holy how did i write all of that
