I think the game is well balanced because if you are the better player, you usually will do better regardless of your combo (unlike Mario kart Wii, where a mediocre player on the flame runner will beat even a great player on the baby booster). but if 2 players have equal skill, of course you'll need a good combo to beat them.

I agree that both are not perfect. But imo a placement based system like mkwii allows more strategy and rewards having a big lead.

@@Shortcat321 i think mixing both would be very nice, by tracking distance from first, while having a barrier from op items. An example would be: if you are on second, but very close to first, you pull at most a green/red shell, but if you are very far, you get at most a 50-70% chance to pull a shroom, but when you are in a bottom spot yet close to first, you pull the least op item possible for your position, instead of idk, triple bananas.

I actually main this combo but with the P-Wing, Slick tires and the Super Glider. Once you know how to drive well with this combo then it’s really fun!

I use Gold Mario, P-Wing, Metal Tires, and the Wario Glider. It's such a beast if you use it correctly, but it's almost impossible to keep it on the track during 200cc without smart steering (because I'm bad at the game, lmao)

My combo is Circuit special with cyber slick tires and either the MKTV Parafoil or the Hylian kite and playing as the large Mii. May not be the fastest but it has netted me a lot of first place victories. And if I really want to play it safe I substitute the Circuit special with the Blue Falcon, a nice high speed stat with a fairly well rounded overall stat chart. I’m not the best (FAR from it really) but I do really damn well even on 200cc, never used smart steering for a really long time (I may have used it but I can’t remember) the vast majority of the time it was off. I usually go outside of the next turn then drift as close to the inside of the turn as I’m doing it to not only go through the turn as quickly as possible but also get as much mini turbo as possible.

my normal speed combo is usually gold mario, gold glider, slims/wood wheels, and mach 8, and I don't run anything faster than that unless it's time trials on very specific time trials (i use sport bike instead of mach 8 for coconut mall for example). Mach 8 has a better ratio between the different speed stats as well as some miniturbo, and slim wheels do a similar thing while also boosting handling more than it's contemporaries

My "speed" combo is dry bowser on inkstriker slims and cloud. Its very fast regardles off terrain type unlike the combo shortcat uses here wich is only fast on main road and antigravity

smart steering op, also that first race was so close. Really good commentary as well man

You sound exactly like a Rubik's Cube youtuber called J-Perm. I've been trying to figure out who your voice reminded me of for almost an hour I think. Happy that I finally remembered.

This is probably one of my favorite combos. I loved to use it against friends when I wasnt really taking anything seriously. It's definitely a flawed combo, but damn is it so fun to use when it's in it's element.

I don't know anything about Mario Kart but this video was very entertaining, I hope your channel grows a lot more ^^

each part having a different speed depending on the terrain helps alot with balance. Some tracks you will just simply not be able to beat other people fair and square. It adds to the strategy too to take the optimal route since most tracks have several paths.

I like this specific build I go for where it makes it really easy to do turns and get the drift boosts on so I do it constantly throughout most maps

this is what i play no matter what happens, it looks cool and i get to use my favorite character (also in my experience you want to take corners earlier and on twisty tracks give yourself room, you have the weight to do it)

For a long time I didn't know that acceleration and mini turbo stats were linked so this combo was my main combo

That kart is based on a LMP car (Le Mans Protype), those cars were made to run long straight circuits such as the circuit de la Sarthe :)

This is really cool! The fast combination I’ve always used to get my Time Trial records is Wario + Sports Bike + Slick + Parafoil… I’d say this is the fastest kart combo whereas mine was the fastest bike combo.

Back in mk8u this combo worked much better and was even used in many early wrs because of fire hopping, this game focuses more on accelerating and handling which makes this combo or speed in general useless

This looks like a style of Kart that would suit me, might add this as my second set, my main is Dry Bowser, Gold Kart, Slims, Paper Glider

I never realised how competitive Mario Kart is until this popped up out of nowhere in my recommended. Damn, that looked fun. I didn't even realise that characters or parts can have different stats ahaha.

Since the day the game came out for Wii U, I always used that car, and the tires, I considered those, and I still consider them the best to play, and my favorites, only instead of Wario's super wing, I use the flying squirrel, this combination seems to me the most balanced and the best to play 👌

Stats can suit different tracks and different play styles. Also beginners need more handling and acceleration, novices need more speed, and pros need more mini turbo

I think the reason why speed stat doesn't matter is because speed carts tend to have terrible handling, which means less coins.

tanooki Mario has a lower off-road traction stat, which makes him slip more on ice and dirt. some good vehicle bodies for off-road traction are wild wiggler, inkstriker, or biddybuggy. Use roller/GLA tires, and cloud glider. Hope u like this combo!

Hard to call that the fastest when your mini turbo stat sucks, with very unbalanced speed stats and the good invincibility doesnt make up for the accel But i got a suggestion, dry bowser, sports coupe, slim tires, wario glider, all 4 speeds are high, higher accel, traction, mini turbo and handling Pretty cool vid tho

Kind of, but mastering mini turbos with a high mini turbo stat is actually faster on most tracks, even with a lower speed. So its kind of like a glass bow and arrow
