I love hermit druid but it definitely is power crept out of the format. It negates the only major positive of thoracle combo (which is that it wins on the stack and if it is interrupted you don't lose), since it is a permanent that can be interacted with and you have to commit to milling out before oracle is on the stack. I could see a world where it is in non-thoracle shells (maybe jund or abzan) since it is still a one-card combo, but it just is a step below and much more of a glass cannon than any other efficient combo in the format.

I could see it in an underworld breach Rocco deck. Been meaning to playtest it, so its definitely playable, just better in a creature combo breach deck imo. Rocco decks have lots of mana dorks and creatures usually, to get it out and activated quickly too, so theres plenty of shells that work.

My first TnT deck ran hermit druid and sacred guide. Cutting out white from your deck is a bad idea but sacred guide took so many people off guard.

Well usually on a tournament if you play hermit druid with no haste you become the target or the hermit druid. Notice adding tyvar increased the chances dramatically. Means he was able to use the ability of creatures right away or like hermit druid wasnt a hindrance for him

While druids been crept out I still like unearth package aswell.

With some testing, hermit druid is decent in a muldrotha brew to bait removal and to help the deck get more stuff in the graveyard. That being said, there are still a good amount of situations where it does nothing do to removal, graveyard hate, etc.

I feel like there could be some potential for a hermit Druid deck with the new Six card. Hermit Druid mills the entire deck and Six let’s you then play those cards with retrace

The real downside is really that its so mega telegraphed win and a 1/1 (dies to bowmaster) with activated abilities dies to everything AND gets staxed by a bunch of things too, and with graveyard hate like Dauthi Voidwalker in play you cant win easily either. Overall, there is a lot that goes wrong with Hermit Druid if its played on its own, as it just gets destroyed as a side-product of too many things.

YES! That has always been the biggest problem.

I wonder how priest of fell rites impacts win rate. That is where I have found the strongest lines.

Hermit is going to be good in the new Disa, the restless commander

You should review Cayth, Famed Mechanist. Seems like it might have potential.

YES! That is work in progress. The card is good.

I believe in Comedian mtg's video deck tech, he reports that the Master Transcendent does not work with Hermit Druid as Hermit druid does not mill. I believe Hermit Druid just needs a little more support to make a come back, such as Flashback/Escape/Unearth/Disturb style cards
