How GOOD Is DJ Burns & NC State Basketball REALLY?

Спорт

NC State is on a ridiculous run in march madness this year, led by DJ Burns and DJ Horne, they just beat Duke led by Jared McCain yesterday to advance to the final four. Today's video gets into how good the team really is. Can Zach Randolph's Son lead nc state to a national title?!

As an NC State fan, I didn’t think we’d make it to the tourney, let alone the Final Four. However, any state fan will tell you, we all have loved DJ the past two seasons. The back-down post game of his is something special.

Hey they didn't barely qualify for the tournament! They got the automatic bid as ACC Champions! NC State lost lots of close games because of a very good ACC Conference. The team just figured out how to win the close games. National Champions!

State fan since 87-88. This is great. So much fun to watch these guys. I had almost given up on this childhood dream, the NCAA tournament. I was sure there was no way we were beating Duke, again! If DJ loses half his weight he can compete as a NBA forward I think. Old school player. Let's see what happens. That big Purdue guy looks slow, I think we got this one.

If Burns can stay out of foul trouble they can easily compete with Purdue. Ppl saying just bc Edey is 7'4" he doesn't stand a chance but that dude at Duke is 7' + too Edey draws a ton of fouls tho

I'd like to see a repeat of 1983. I saw NC State play Duke the other day and was very impressed by their mental toughness. As for DJ Burns, I would love to see an NBA team take a chance on him, weak rebounding and all. I can't believe that with good coaching he couldn't develop into a fierce rebounder in time. I know everyone is saying that he should play in the NFL - and maybe they are right - but to me that seems like a waste of tremendous basketball potential, speaking as a layman.

You're right about that but I'm kinda fed up with all the talking about his weight. Dj I is 6'9 275 , ok so what!! He's a damn center just like any center in ncaa and the nba. Zach Edey is 7'4 300 lbs and there's others too. So enuff talking about his his chubbiness and let the kid play . LETS GO WOLFPACK 👍🏾

Yeah, every article I've seen on DJ mentions his weight. It was the same story when Barkley was coming up and he laughed all the way to the HOF. Maybe DJ will too. In any case, he would be a very popular pro: it is such fun to watch him play because he always seems to be enjoying himself so much. Pro sports could use a good dose of fun.@@lesant7659

DJ is the man!!! I don’t think he can find a fit in the NBA though😢. Being a defensive liability in the pick and roll and transition defense while also not being able to play more than 23 minutes at just the college level hurts his value.

There's a reason fans cheer every time he touches the ball. He's also nicknamed the dancing bear for a reason. Every State fan knows Burns has said he has a build like Zack Randolph. As far as 2nd half game play, this team has consistently played better in the 2nd half of their tourney games. Guys on the team have said their regular season play they feel like they weren't at their full potential and essentially beat themselves. They found their grove at the right time of the season. Only Morsell and Burns played together last season. Their other starters Horne, O'Connell, and Diarra are transfers this year from other conferences. From the bench Middlebrooks transferred from a conference opponent, Clemson, this year and Taylor also transferredcthis year. They players who get a liitle court time in tight situations ross and pass were with burns and morsell last year but are still young, dont see a lot of minutes and also had to get used to the new dynamic. From early on this team has embraced people viewing them as underdogs and worked to prove them wrong.

i agree. they were obviously extremely talented in the regular season and it even felt like we were outplaying others significantly at times but we beat ourselves

We lost a ton of close games and we also have a lot of transfers cause we lost guys after last season. I think it took them a while to learn how to play together and it just clicked at the right time. The biggest difference is Mo Diarra & Michael O’Connell have been playing waaaaay better Burns was kinda ballin all season and even last too he just wasn’t getting help from the role players till rn

People REALLY sleep on how strong the NC basketball scene is.. Like most just talk Duke and UNC but even Wake Forest and NC State have threat capabilities.. As a NC native while I say I didn’t expect it.. I will say I’m not surprised at all..

You(and the books) believe NCSU (+350) to be the underdog, and you are confident in Purdue (-450) , so I'll put 50 USD against your 100 USD that NCSU is victorious on the night. Feel free to propose another bet, as you did originally say "I'll bet their streak..." And in my first reply I just wanted to know what the bet was.

Well I’ve lived in NC all my life, and I’ve been a Tarheel fan since a young kid. NCSU kicked our butt in the ACC championship. I have said that Carolina didn’t deserve to be a 1 seed, and that has proven out. Just to clarify I will be pulling for state for sure seeing a team from my state. I just believe that UConn or Purdue will be the champion. They are just too good. You know as well as I that any team can be beat on any given night, especially in college ball. I hope NCSU wins, just not seeing it though.
