How good is Condottiero against Gunpowder units | Age of Empires 2
We are back, testing the second unique unit of the Italians after the Genoese Crossbowman, the Condottiero which through the Italian team bonus, can be shared through the barracks at imperial age, so every civ that has an Italian ally can use them. And why to use them? Simple answer is that Condottiero are perfect against gunpowder units such as the Conquistador of the Spanish, the Organ of the Portuguese, the Janissary of the Turks, the Hussite wagon of the Bohemians and many versions of the hand cannoneers such as the Hindustanis with extra range. The hidden bonus of the Condottiero is plus 12 attack against the gunpowder units, but let's see how will they perform.

organ guns were pretty décent honestly, as long as there is a great group of units it's fine

I think Condo should get +3 vs Eagles. Is good as Infantry - fast, relativly strong and dont need many upgrades. But as countering gunpowder still Skirms are better against HC, Conqs and Janas.

@@DemonAgeOfEmpires2-wf8lv no they are trash,. and the game has no balance. Italians is the weakest civilazation. they cannot counter onagers., Conditiori should have +3 pierce armor to counter ranged units.

Played with this unit as a Malay teammate with the attack bonus and it's very strong in any situation you'd need a champion without needing to upgrade militia line.

@@samganchiff8820 it's strong but feels quite situational many times..
In my experience, Condos do well against Bohemians (fast enough to do well against monks, decent against hand cannons, strong against hussite wagons and houfnice, and not countered by spear-line - which leaves the archer line as the only remaining counter). They do fine against hand cannons, but aren't quite as good against janissaries (janissaries don't rely on bonus damage, so they still deal full damage from behind whatever meat shield they have). Conquistadors win against condos because Conqs can kite them. Outside of that, they have a situational use in early imp or by a Goth ally (or Dravidian ally in some situations), but otherwise often get overshadowed by other units who can do their role better (champions as a better front-line infantry unit, hussars as a more spammable raiding unit, and cavaliers as a stronger raiding unit) Side note: Burgundian hand cannons actually deal a little bonus damage against condos

This „Italian heavy cavalry” skin is great. Why the heck can’t devs give this skin to Italians?! If they released dlc with skins for each civilization I’d be the first one to buy it and not this “losers and vanquished” crap.
