I changed a lot of glasses until one specialist recommended me wearing glasses with astigmatism lenses, and it was the real solution, it made glasses so much more comfortable. It's shocking that doctors ignored my astigmatism and just prescribed me usual glasses.

usually doctor won't ignore astigmatism, but on the smaller scale, they would recommend not to prescribe astigmatism lenses, because it might just be uncomfortable to wear (this happened to me, I told my doctor to prescribe the lenses anyway despite his previous notes), but when the astigmatism scale rises, the doctor will prescribe the necessary astigmatism lenses and this times it's actually helped a lot

that's actually quite wild. all of my glasses have astigmatism lenses, well except my first 2 pairs. Actually the very first thing clinics checks is if you have astigmatism, and then they'll move on and check the grade. the ones who made your early glasses must be ripping you off because they literally skip the checkup

Is it possible to get rid of this shadow-effect entirely or is it supposed to be that way? Anything i can do to minimize it (like thinner glasses?). When i look straight at something its fine.

Actually, you can! Contacts for astigmatism are curved differently in different directions. There are usually marks indicating which part should be on the bottom, but the bottom of them is made heavier so that if you put them in, you can blink for a few seconds and they should settle into the proper orientation
