Angulimala ( previously called Ahinsaka) was doing it as a “guru pooja “. He was a bright student and the rest of the students were jealous. So they put things on his teachers head. Teacher demanded a 1000 of fingers as his fees hence Ahinsaka went on a killing spree.

Story was good. but how angulimala became disciple of Buddha was incomplete sir .but thank you for story

He wasn’t just a murderer. The whole point of the story was to avoid “chasing after enlightenment”. He was always an excellent yogic student, surpassing his teachers easily but never having found enlightenment. He was on his way to kill his mom when Buddha came around to stop such atrocity. He chased after Buddha instead, unable to catch up. He yelled out after Buddha: “STOP!” Buddha said: “I’ve stopped, you’re still chasing.” He realized many things within him from this and dropped his practices. He became Buddha’s disciple.

"If you do it unconsciously, it become a compulsive desire" THAT IS ALL

Namaskaram Sadhguru ji. How beautifully narrated the story I read in school , was little distorted then, I'm so grateful to hear the real version from my beloved Sadhguru ji. Deepest respect & profound appreciation , for sharing Gautama Buddha' & Angulimal's story .
