How Game Of Thrones Changed Modern Politics

Game of Thrones was a huge cultural phenomenon. I believe that in our current attention economy, any media which draws that kind of viewership is going to get noticed by the elites and copied in their own staged theater called politics.

Good take in this. Unfortunately it's all become a show as some sort of sick popularity contest if we don't realize we're playing with all of our lives

Completely agree. It especially bothers me how much they like beating the war drums. It's like they're asking other countries to bring down our extremely vulnerable power grid. Or release some deadly biological, chemical or radiological weapon on our civilian population. Terrifies me how our "leaders" handle these things like a game. Gotta look exciting for the movie cameras though.

The following quote sums up where we are as a country. "When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion-when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing-when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors-when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you-when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice-you may know that your society is doomed." ~ Ayn Rand

@@user-tn7hc4ww3j Absolutely. The problem I've encountered trying to form like-minded community is that most people are extremely judgemental of others to the point that they won't accept anyone who isn't an exact clone of themselves. 2 people may be on the same page with 90% of their views, but can't look past that 10% where they differ. I don't think the challenge lies so much in finding like-minded people as much as finding people willing to accept each other for their differences.

@@TheBackwoodsHermit It would depend on what that 10% difference is. Some differences are very minor and we all have them, while others are deal breakers.

Yes, I suppose you could say that modern politics IS a form of entertainment--a dark entertainment, indeed. The meshing of politics with Hollywood is frightening, but predictable. Very on point, my friend. Good video. 🧡 (P.S. - I hate to see a guy wearing makeup, lol! 😂 Also, I'm not voting this time either.)

Interesting thoughts here. I think a really good follow up to this is Vivek Ramaswamy’s conversation with the Iced Coffee Hour guys on election corruption. He talks about how it’s all a money game and goes into more detail on how much money each candidate will spend on their campaign, and the legal loopholes donors can jump through to fund “their guy” and move the chess pieces in their favor.

That sounds like an interesting discussion. Even if I'm wrong about it being completely scripted, there should be no doubt at this point that we do not have (and may never have had) an honest constitutional republic. A few powerful types get exactly what they want, regardless of whether it is good for the citizens of the country or not.

Great talk friend, they love to mock those who pay attention to the predetermined shit shows. I've never seen an episode of Game of Thrones or anything on tv for 8 years now. I have zero time for the TV Programming idiot box. Enjoy your weekend brother, should be making a video walk around with a tape measure of the Dasher style washing machine this weekend.

Never seen Game of Thrones, but there’s no doubt that politics and the entertainment industry are two sides of the same coin. That being said, I at least HOPE my vote counts and do believe one political agenda is far better for the country than the other. Even if it isn’t perfect. But I do see your point. It is frustrating getting screwed by the government, no matter who’s in office.

It is very frustrating seeing one party sprinting towards total government control, while the other is taking a light jog towards the same end goal. I see why people still have belief in their government, but I can't bring myself to suffer that stuff anymore. Maybe I will go vote and write in Darryl 🐶 I trust his good judgement.

I am also one who has never seen game of thrones. I worry for the manipulation created by algorithms that reinforce peoples biases and stop critical thinking, I am a mother of a 24 year old who has yet not realised how this directs his thinking and continues the division here in NZ where the racial divide is getting more and more emphasised and is leading in a dangerous path.

You're spot on with this. The algorithms just focus on cold, hard numbers without taking into consideration the human factor or any unforeseen consequences. I'd be curious to hear your boots on the ground take on what's really happening in NZ. The news here will occasionally have a little blurb about the Maori situation, but nothing our propaganda news says can be trusted.
