How Framing Devices Shape Your Perspective in Musical Theatre

Ойын-сауық

Writing musical theatre is incredibly fun, and we have to start somewhere! Just like with a painting, or an essay, we're going to start with the general shape, goal, outline, and build up from there. Framing devices are a great tool that you'll find in more shows than not, and for good reason: literary techniques so tried and true are a fantastic means to shape the audience's perception of a story. Here, we're going to talk about a number of my favorite musicals and how they effectively use framing devices, with a particular focus on the use of a narrator.
