A while back, On a busy dinner shift, I was sharing a big party with a co worker. I noticed he was gone for a long time. So I started asking the staff if they had seen him. We all knew he was somewhat addicted to opioids, but we didn’t think he would get high at work. 10 minutes After asking around, we noticed the bathroom door was locked, but no one would answer. The door could only be locked from the inside. One of the staff members took a power tool, and cut through the lock, and there he was. On the floor. Face looked like it was starting to look blue. I’ve never seen this in my life, so I don’t know what to do except to call his name, and remind him to breathe. We got him out of the bathroom, and carefully held his head so his neck wouldn’t break. Soon enough the paramedics got there, and confirmed that he was having an overdose. As they were bringing him out with a sheet through a small stair space by the kitchen I saw the paramedics use narcan on him, and he immediately woke up. As if he was stuck in time. Luckily for him ge survived that night, but got fired. Months passed by and l get a phone call from a random number. I never pick those calls up, but for some reason I can’t explain. I picked it up. And it was him. Thanking me for helping out. It was truly heartbreaking. He said he was gonna try to get Better. Recently I heard he overdosed again. Not sure if that true or not, but that’s a damn shame.

I struggle w opioid addiction. A lot of good people get lost this way. We all know not to do it but for whatever reason, life breaks people down, they get badly influenced, or a myriad of other reasons. Thank you for your story I'm sorry you had to see this. A friend of mine was being unknowingly dosed by his vape shop (yes, I know) with fentanyl and didn't find out until the cops busted his usual store. It was really messing him up, and none of us knew what was up. It's scary to know that he could've died.

I'm actually smoking fentanyl to understand why people get addicted and the downsides of it, I've done it before and the euphoria is definitely one key short term benefit, however the come downs suck. I would much rather smoke marijuana than do opiates, unless I was in major pain and it was prescribed by a doctor.

It didn't make me feel any happier when I was given it for the first time last week. Maybe my dose was too low to feel euphoria but I must say its damn good at killing pain which I was incredibly grateful for.

It will affect you diff the more you take it. When you take it enough days in a row your body willnstop making the chemicals it gets from the drug & you will go in to withdrawl with in 12 or 24 hrs. U will deff start to feel happy whwn u take it then.

Same thing when I took it after a surgery. It was the only thing that could even take the edge off the pain, and apparently I was on a high dose, according to the nurse. But I felt no euphoria - in fact I didn't feel like I was on anything, really, and I was still in pain, just not the blinding pain I *had* been in. My doc said later that I didn't feel euphoric because the fentanyl was acting on a brain in pain, so it did what it was supposed to - relieved intense pain. But when there is no pain to relieve, that's when it overwhelms the brain and the user will feel euphoric. Makes sense to me.

wow this is crazy and so sad thank you for explaining it clearer.

I have been been on fentanyl patches for 13 years prescribed by my doctor after two failed spinal surgeries because of chronic severe disabling pain and now that i want off it, it has become a nightmare just titration down from 100mcg patch to 75mcg the withdrawals are horrendous I curse the day I was put on the medication 😢😢

Thankfully my doctor was my treating physician since my injury and provided the medication had he cut me off randomly like happens to some I'd have ended up on heroin thank God that didn't transpire. What was detox like?

My nephew died 2 weeks ago from this drug. He was 18. Very hard for the family and his friends. If you’re reading this and feeling lonely and with no hope, there’s always a way. I’m glad he met Jesus before leaving and his past months were a little different than before.

I got IV fentanyl during surgery and didn’t feel any of the high. They said it has a very short half-life of 45 min and I was asleep for all of it.

I’ve found my brother unconscious in the bathroom after a cocaine laced with fentanyl OD. Luckily I was able to save him but it’s so sad knowing what could’ve been different

Why would one want to take fentanyl if they have no pain? Makes no sense

Ive bin clean from opiates & Fentanyl for 2 yrs hardest thing I ever did. I had a bag of fent & woyld hit it all day its a yellow powder.

Ive only tried it a few times, i just want to know if it damages my brain somehow. Because ik a person surviving a car crash will be on some form of painkillers, but does Fet damage yur brain with just few uses?

Even if it’s okay to take within prescribed limits there are withdrawal symptoms! My husband could manage his pain very well with the alternate medicines and nerve stimulation through electro therapy
