    Love those wheels and tyres, Phil - the dogs bananas! Good speed, well fast enough for most of us Tamiya fans, so glad that beauty of a car came out unscathed. Cool montage as always, mate! :)

    yup, last video on this car I suggested foams too. the only real drawback with them, if you hit a little pebble there's chance of a big chunk of foam getting torn out. we used to sweep a private 4 court tennis court to run on, using bungee cords to pin the end nets up. after its swept clean the traction is fantastic for pan car oval racing. the tennis club owner+members LIKED letting us run there same reason, no dust+dirt to let your feet slip when playing tennis. we'd hit the courts early Sunday mornings, people sleeping in or going to church, so tennis players would maybe arrive about noon. the concrete or asphalt was perfectly FLAT... hard to tell which because of the sand filled paint covering the whole deck. the traction when cornering, there's really nothing like it, it'd take about 1/2 hour for 4 of us with big push brooms to sweep the whole thing, is also why the owner and members liked us playing there.

Not sure what would be the best to buy so kinda hunting around for ideas, ideally I'd like to modify it to be FPV and potentially long range, also trying to consider what it would be like on 4s or 3s batteries

    This is good work, Phil. So, if an object accelerates from rest to 20 mph in one second, it pulls 1g. I wonder if it´s a linear progression - if the car could accelerate to 60 in 3 seconds, presumably it´d be pulling 1g throughout. The quickest vehicle I´ve ever owned was an FJ1200 - it felt pretty hard to hang on to the handlebars under max acceleration so I´m a bit surprised to learn that it was pulling less than 1g (it took over 3 secs to reach 60). What a difference foams make!

  • @TomleyRC

    @TomleyRC

    4 жыл бұрын

    Well I'm not sure if it works exactly like that but you are probably not far off. And you could say it's actually pulling 2g as we sit at 1g all the time due to Gravity (Science with Tomley... new feature haha). To compare, my Arrma Limitless does 0-60 in 2s... and 2g on my readings.

    Id go with some paddle tires for sure. Like say perhaps the traxxas 1:16th scale slingshot 2.2 should be good even if they might be close too or smaller diameter. these are pre mounted ones I've linked too here. www.prolineracing.com/tires/sling-shot-2.2-sand-tires-mounted.asp They are quite expensive though being like 30 usd for 1 pair. Otherwise monster truck style tires from something around the same size like these are pretty good & will dig into the sand pretty well, you pretty much want consistent wheelspeed and not stopping or reversing otherwise when you drive it about there. www.banggood.com/4pcs-ZD-Racing-6455-RC-Car-Wheel-Tire-For-Monster-Truck-116-9051-9053-9055-RC-Vehicle-Models-p-1575833.html?rmmds=category&cur_warehouse=CN

    Never ever use red loctite, always use blue loctite... unless you want to glue that permanent. And this is coming from full scale mechanic work experience, I can't imagine what red loctite will do to a tiny RC gun screw. Because if you ever need to replace that white plastic pulley, or belt, or the bearings behind it.. you will have a hell of a time doing so. The only way I know of losening red loctite is with heat, which means holding the tip of your solder gun to that set screw until the red loctite degrades enough for the screw to turn... and like I said, that pulley is white plastic which means it will melt.
