@@barongeoffrey75 problem with Gold and Silver is the second half of the game is so boring to watch. Squidgy (I think it is) does Crystal and I lost interest because of that.

Just imagine Rival Six, seeing Machamp barely on it's feet and poisoned by the first couple pokemon, and then it proceeds to one shot the whole rest of his team.

And that's why machamp is the champ! It got even guts ability from gen 3 and it has sense, is like a hulk, as more it gets enraged, as more it gets stronger!

I love watching these. Sucks that in about 5 days these daily runs will come to an end, but boy it's a blast looking forward to these videos each day.

Poilwrath's gonna be this exact video except every 1-2 hit KO is gonna be repalced with "put it to sleep first" and the rock types all die in one hit.

I think it’s fine that Charizard is an easy matchup because the point of this is to test how well the pokemon can solo the game, and Machamp having rock slide just means it has a good ability to cover one of its weaknesses, which is an important aspect of the pokemon to demonstrate

@@Begeru But Exeggutor is the most annoying pokemon after alakazam for machamp so it was either blastoise or charizard probably blastoise would've made more sense though.

One of my favorite little things about these runs is seeing what Jrose names the trainer and rival. It's a small thing, but I've always loved that he doesn't just default to his name, but gives themed names for each pokémon he uses.

Jrose has figured out the patterns that the game uses, which has helped ensure good light/dark balance. Go back to a video like Poliwag, and you’ll see that the colors are awesome, but they’re backwards- what should be dark is light, and Vice versa.

Koffing color scheme was fantastic but let's take a moment to appreciate how inspired this one is. The plain grey for Machamps base color, and the nice reddish brown for the fighting type placard. Looks crisp.

now that you pointed out the palettes in the weezing vid, I'm really really appreciating how good they are looking!

machamp actually did much better than I thought time wise! thought it would struggle immensely because of it's low special and speed and lack of good reliable stab. Did not expect 4 minutes off gengar time. I guess Jrose also got really efficient at doing these though lol

Seriously, that was nuts. I thought Alakazam would prove to be a bigger wall than it was, and it was a problem, but the thing also just _kept critting._ Gen 1 mechanics are weird.

Machamp was always quite good. Ground/rock coverage off 130 atk is insane in gen 1. It's just that being quite good does not cut it in competitive when your natural predators are on every team. Hence his fame as a "trap"

It's the only Gen 1 second stage that has a meaningful difference from it's final evolution. EDIT: Actually I was wrong Charmeleon has differences too.

I saw your Twitter post about commissioning new background music because of copyright risks. The new music is great! Fits so well. I'll miss the old songs but it's really cool that you own the rights to the new ones :)

I absolutely love the variation to the aesthetic of the game. I'm not so hot on changing the music pitch. The music sorta makes the Jrose traditional video feel. You do you, it just irks me personally.

Just because you have a rock move doesn't mean you didn't pick the ideal rival Pokemon. Gyarados and Charizard have Flying, and Exeggcutor is Psychic. You are Fighting. That was the perfect choice type-wise to your starter.
