HOW FAR WILL YOUR SIGNAL GO AT 109 METERS UP?!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I met up with my good friend Lewis (Ringway Manchester) and we had a laugh and played some radio from the top of Battersea Power Station Lift 109! but how far will your signals go at 109 meters?!

    It is great to see people actually using radio for what it was intended for and having fun in the process. Keep up the experimentation it is good to see.

    I've got an old school panasonic marine band transceiver, used to sit in the office overlooking the Mersey with it scanning. It was so cool to hear all the ship captains and dock pilots chatting away as they steered the tankers in and out.

Yours and Lewis's videos are always a great watch 👍 GB3OY really does have an amazing coverage and is very strong (can open with a handheld) at my location on the borders of SE London/Surrey (approx 25 miles from the repeater), will listen out for you!.....73's

    I can say that, from 2700 feet AGL in a glider, I made a 95 mile contact with my ID-51 on 446.0 MHz. I haven't done it, but people routinely talk to the ISS from their handhelds and mobiles.

    Pretty impressive that a relatively modest 109 metres or 360 feet elevation let an HT with a helical antenna on a UHF frequency clear 16 miles of dense urban sprawl into Hertfordshire. Down at ground level you would barely get a few streets away before the signal faded.

  • @BillAnt

    @BillAnt

    I thought he meant operating on the 109 meters band = 2.75 MHz. ha-ha What's the actual operating frequency he's using in this video (433.550 MHz) and that really only travels only a couple of blocks at ground level? Wow, the Icom name brings back some great memories from the late 1980's in New York city using a couple of their classic hand held transceivers while riding bicycles with my friends. As silly teenagers we have shamelessly keyed over 144.xxx MHz repeaters in the NYC and of course got cussed out for it. hehe
