I so happened to be staying at this hostel called Maverick Lodge, which is super close to the Karavan Street Food in May while you were there last year. Watching this video certainly brings back some of my fondest memories of this beautiful city.

MsHonkie how much does it cost per month to live in that hostel , I mean sharing with two others
Well, you can also have daily restaurant menu for very cheap. Soup and second meal for about 850 ft. In some restaurants it's an option only in lunch time but that's a full, warm lunch with two meals, varies each day and you can taste traditional Hungarian cuisine, so totally worth it.

Yo, wtf? That is damn cheap, concidering that Budapest is really tourristy
@gergelyvarju6679
2 жыл бұрын
@@emilijuspoviliunas6009 Yes, it is very touristy, but it is a capital of the country, and there are areas full of tourist and you get "touristy prices" and often "touristy" authenticity, quality as they don't expect to see you again. If you would go to a less touristy place, it would cost you some effort in finding the place, at least some minutes of walking, if you would consider a place visited by people who work in the area or even by local students. If you would want to check "best bang for buck" places loved by locals, you would spend more time, use some transit tickets... And your vacation time is limited, it is expensive and the time you spend on stuff costs "a small fraction of travelling costs".
Your channel is very underrated, I hope you will get more views and I hope you have/had a great time here! :D Oh yeag and almost forgot! Those beers were really expensive! You can usually have 0.5 liter for 100-150 forint if you buy it in a supermarket! So yeah, budget! :D

good informative video!
Budapest is definitely much cheaper than most European cities like Vienna, Frankfurt, Madrid and etc. Was in Budapest in Sept 2018 and spent another 1 month in Budapest in Dec 18 to Jan 19. Love the city and the vibes. I had way too much beef lagoush. Will be back there again this year :)

I disagree. budapeast is cheap. I can eat really good food at a restaurant for just 10 euros. in Austria, for that quality, you can pay up to 25 euros.
Thnks for the nice video Jason. It's very informative. I am planning to visit Budapest next year, this is definitely a big help. Cheers!!

I like this guy's calm demeanor - Jason, question! If you had to pick one to live for a year, would it be Bucharest or Budapest? (or somewhere else in EE that's even better?) Thanks!
I have been in that hostel 7 years ago!!
nice video bro
keep it up bro
Did your day total expense include the accommodation? As I'd be likely to have that paid first off and not include it in the calculation of how much I have to bring for day to day. If you did include it then I'd say the total would be £18 instead? ( £25 - £7 )
It was interesting to watch as a Hungarian 👌🏻👏🏻

That's a nice kitchen! Is food poisoning something to be concerned about when travelling to Budapest? Those are some really cheap pizza slices! Great video :) I'm Canadian & I'll be travelling to Budapest in 3 days. Never been outside of North America before, so this is going to be total culture shock for me.

Was that the panini place at Oktogon? I was going to try it last time but it was a lot more expensive than other nearby options,looked nice though.I think I sometimes get too fixated on getting the very cheapest,at the end of the day you're on holiday and should treat yourself. I wouldn't think twice about spending the same money at home but Bp is so cheap I get terribly mean :) I hate to pay 2 euros for a beer when I can get it somewhere else for 1 euro,kinda fixate on that rather than the fact that 2 euros is really cheap anyway.I'm going back again in 6 weeks, I'll try to free my mind and purse-strings a bit more.Nice vid and nice to see some places I know.
@JasonBillamTravel
7 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's the one. If you're on holiday for only a few days, then I wouldn't worry too much about prices, as Budapest is typically cheap compared to western Europe/US etc. If you're backpacking on a budget and aiming to travel to multiple places in the long term like me, then I would splurge only occasionally, and be mindful of your own budget. Happy travels!

I think I ate there Albert if it's the place I'm thinking of.I was staying on Hunyadi ter ,it's just down the road 100 mtrs on the corner of Eotvos utca ? It had great Tripadvisor reviews but unfortunately I'm not a fan of chicken gyros,prefer beef or lamb. Nice friendly people though and a queue outside is always a good sign! thanks for your reply, take care.

Yes Eotvos utca you're right! :) When you don't really like with Chicken there is another solution called Gyradiko. fb.com/gyradikoestia/ But this is not that close. This is the 2nd best Greek food in the town and not expensive at all :)

I was there last week, sadly its expensive
I just book a room £350 a night at the Ritz Carlton. Hotels price here excluded tax around 18-22% so I don’t really think it is super cheap for this city.

why spend that much money on a hotel? For that money you can get mansion or villa via airbnb
I was there a month ago and I would say the prices in Budapest are actually average. Not cheap but also not expensive

Hi
You drank Budapest tap water?, my Mother in Law lives in district XII, she and her friends always chide my Wife or I for even cooking with Municipal Tap Water in BP, 1.5 litre bottles are cheap as hell, less than 150 ft for Natra Aqua for example, I'd advise people to only use tap water for Bathing and laundry.
@chalayan

I actually boiled the tap water to drink to make my hot honey lemon water since it was freezingly cold during the month of December and January. Was there for a month.
can i use USD in hungary or do i have to exchange
@attila840702

You can't pay with USD cash. Some places accept Euro, but their exchange rate is usually a ripoff. You can pay with USD debit card, but then expect your bank to rip you off with their exchange rates.
In England
Blair Miller in your country better then Grangemouth that’s my country Budapest both child was born there
Budapest is so cheap, the Big Mac is almost half the price of that in Germany.
It seems risky to stay on hostel because your belongings are available to every one in the room.. Isn't that correct?

Well, store-bought sandwiches aren't exactly burgers, are they? Those prices are fair for a burger place. Anything under 2000 is normal, hardly extortionate.
@JasonBillamTravel

You're right, that's normal for a burger place. I was just trying to make the point that instead of burgers, I'd been eating sandwiches on most days which worked out much cheaper in comparison.

It would help to point out that any regular grocery store is a great source of food. Many travelers don't think of it. You can get fresh baked goods, cheese, meat, fruit .... at much better prices, freshness and quality than paying someone in the shop to make a sandwich for you.
I got food poisoning there too.
