how even a line distribution is?
There are some symbols in the formula that are not quite right. I seem to be mixing up the types of population standard deviation or sample standard deviation here, but that doesn't affect the final result because the denominators cancel each other out.
Actually, I found a way to measure the evenness index for species used in biodiversity. I still need to understand the formula obtained, and the scale interpretation is quite different, so I may review it again.

interesting video! my way to calculate evenness is: 1. input all percentages 2. get popular standard deviation 3. divide popular standard deviation by mean 3. multiply mean * 100 and the result is the variance. the lower the number, the more even the line distribution.

Is the popular standard deviation different from the calculation I use? I once tried to use the 100-(standard deviation/mean) *100 equation. but I am not satisfied because the result can be negative. Has your calculation value ever exceeded 100% for very uneven line distribution?

If you'd like to try it in Google Sheets with data in percentage format, here's the corrected formula: =100 - STDEV.P(data) * SQRT(COUNT(data)).
