Elvis was raised right. Simple people. Decent people. Tight family. Poor family. Southern family. No White privilege. No running water or pluming. She picked cotton. Took Elvis with him. What an incredible love story. American story. Elvis is truly a phenomenon

ELVIS loved his mother so much, he wanted to give her everything she never had. He would give everything up just to have his mother back. He did it all for his mother. The loss of his mother tore him apart, he never was the same again, the tragic loss set the pattern for the rest of his life. Forever Rest In Peace Dear ELVIS 😎✌️🙏♥️. 12-01-21

I always felt that she died because of Elvis being so far away from her .Sudden illness can occur from too much stress .My mom lost her ability to walk ( temporarily) when my dad was going through a rough period with his health. It bothered Gladys that the female fans would go wild and tear at Elvis' clothes.I don't think there was any way she was going to survive Elvis' fame even if she didn't pass in 1958

I'm not famous but I can relate to this personally as I too was an only child who grew up dirt poor and had a very protective (and artistically creative!) mom much like Elvis's mom, whom I had a too often fraught relationship with, but whom I loved dearly. I branched out late in life, but she went down hill while I was away even though I often returned to visit. Towards the end I was near all the time and with her most days. I so wanted things to get better and for her to be part of it! I had dreams that I told her of. I wanted her to meet her grandkids. But her body was failing and I just took too long. She had not been up to letting me go when I was young and most able so I stayed around and tried to help but often failed. I wasn't up to succeeding at the same time it seemed and when I finally realized how we just didn't have much time left. But we discussed reconsider and made up all at the end. Knowing she will never meet her grandkids yes my dreams have truly died but she made sure I would I knew to value my remaining dreams so I will do so in her honer, in her memory.

Thank you Debbie. I think Elvis inherited intelligence, beauty and daring from his mother. She inspired him to spread his wings, and he valued her opinion far more than those of his narrow-minded critics in the fifties. He was blessed to fulfil his dream of buying her a mansion within her very short lifetime. Gladys is as special to me as Elvis.

My mum passed away on April and we had an extremely close bond and would do anything for each other. Watching Elvis gives me a bit of comfort knowing that this is someone who had lost a parent at a fairly young age still made something of themselves, It also make you feel less alone. My Mum's name was Debbie actually and she used to say I resembled Elvis because of my hair. I'm just grateful that we had that bond, shared everything and counted on each other because a lot of people I know just don't have that with their parents. My dream was to start a business (still in the process of doing that) and get my Mum a new Bungalow house so should could live her retirement more comfortably. I just miss being able to share things with her like something funny I found on facebook or watching really bad movies with her and the two cats 😂

Elvis loved his family and especially his mother and father, he had a connection with his mother and she loved Elvis with all of her heart. If you still have a mother never forget to call and say I love you. Elvis loved his mother so deeply, I don't think he ever fully got over loosing her. I'm happy he had his father all of his life. Vernon tried to keep Elvis grounded and watched out for him financially because Elvis was so generous. I don't think Vernon kept Elvis from giving when he wanted to but maybe he helped in some way. I know his father loved him dearly and was devastated by his loss. So many people were devastated when Elvis passed away, he was loved dearly and still is to this day. What a wonderful man, who cared about everyone. We were so blessed to have Elvis. He's resting in peace with his family now.

I have recently really loved all his songs, but I know nothing about this handsome King of Rock n Roll, hearing his love for his mother and his last words to her, reminds me of how I felt when my Mum died! what a great man he was, it just shows that Money was never really an interest to him either!

Dear Billy: Losing your parent is very hard. I lost my mother in January of this year. It changes how you feel about life. I hope you are doing okay. God bless you. I know how Elvis felt. My mother was my best friend. A few nights before she died. We laid down in the bed. She had just turned the lights off. She spoke these words. I see the light and there is Mother and Bobbie. I believe that the heavens opened up and she saw her sister and mother. They had already passed away. She died a few days later. As my nephew read from psalms. He read the words you can fly away home. She took her last breath and she was with the Lord.

Thanks so much for your witnessing about Elvis and his mother Gladys. I used to love listening Elvis ‘ music when I was a teenager, but not having any tv in my dwelling I never got any opportunity to know much about Elvis ‘ life and family until it got to my memories of my youth to remember this music and the parties where I used to dance rocks n roll endlessly and twist listening to Elvis. Then I started to long to know more about Elvis’ life and family and all stuff about him, as well as films . Then thanks again and God bless.

Nothing was trivial in his life. The great misery that he shared as a child, alongside an African-American. This guitar that his mother gives him, and propels him to the rank of king. The admiration and love of the public which echoes to the ears of God himself. No, definitely nothing has been trivial in his life. Perhaps it was her mother's love so great so powerful at her birth that magically made her way.

You couldn't possibly have lost your mother to covid 19 because 1. they haven't isolated it 2. there is no valid test for it. My dad was given the flu shot four years ago and died a month later from the flu. I know what it feels like to lose a parent to the flu. But this continual perpetual lie of covid 19 must stop . We've lost 300 million jobs already and are about to lose more lives to a fake vaccine. Sorry for your loss but do the right thing and stop perpetuating the covid lie. makes me sick to my stomach.

I know for most people losing one's mother is probably one of the worst things there is. Elvis was completely devastated. From what I hear, he was so grief-stricken and inconsolable when he was at Gladys' funeral. His grief was uncontrollable. Now Vernon and Elvis are together with her again. I understand they're all buried in Graceland's Meditation Garden.

  • @liammckeown9167

Yes they are 😊 Members of the MM who were around at the time said that they've never seen anyone more heartbroken over a death than Elvis with his mother. He cried uncontrollably for 2/3 days straight and held all her clothes in his arms just crying into them. That to me is a very strong bond. He'd have lost it if he lived beyond '79 with the death of his father, he'd have felt there was nobody else who really loved him.

If you really want to perform some self-analysis and look deep inside yourself as a true Elvis fan? You will hopefully come to the same conclusion that I did after many hours of reflection, we all share the burden of Elvis`s solitude, his seclusion and the circumstances in which he was forced to live with.. because even though we meant no harm, just unequaled admiration and love for this man, ... those same heart felt feelings are unfortunately and ultimately what destroyed him. Because as innocent as we all thought we were, we had unknowingly perhaps, placed this very kind man on such a high pedestal, that no mortal man could ever endure.

She depended on Elvis for her happiness and made him the same, which is so wrong to put a burden like that on your child. She didn't know any better I guess but it sure stopped his growth as far as relationships(male, female) After he lost Pricilla, that really undid him in that dept. He sabotaged himself unconsciously. I think even though he loved and preferred the company of women, deep down he was afraid of losing them like he did his mother. Also he thought women were there to take care of him. That's the result of his mother also. His whole idea of a relationship was warped because of his mom. I'm not trying to speak ill of his mom at all, just looking how his relationships were throughout his life and why.

You can see in most of the photos of Gladys that she did not look happy...you could see the love she had for Elvis...and i think show business and the army caused Gladys to be unhappy cause she wanted always to be near her son...i think she died premature which is so sad cause you could see what a wonderful mother she was to her beloved son.
