DPM was amazing. They never should have stopped it, instead just incorporated MTP alongside junglies and desert DPM as one of the options for a specifc theatre of ops.

I did my JNCO's Leadership course back in 1999 in Glamoc Just prior to Christmas. Our course was three weeks and it was a pure beasting. I remember Manjaca ranges very well. We were Royal Artillery and our instructors were from a Welsh infantry unit the Prince of Wales own.

When I served the CFT’s were never a problem for me and funnily enough felt I could do it again as I was born in the dales on a farm and was always up in the fells nigh on on a daily basis herding sheep and working on the grouse moors so the long hikes and carrying bales of hay on my back was a daily routine but I wanted more out of life and joined up. But the BFT I always struggled and embarrassingly I failed it in battalion and had to do extra PT to pass it. I always considered my self fit but the BFT’s nearly killed me.

Army fitness is a mixture, I knew guys who were racing snakes without kit, but yet stick a bergan on and they struggle. And vice versa . All about stamina, especially in the Infantry, from my experience.

What you're seeing there is the 2 types of pack that we use. The soldiers are carrying Bergen packs, these are designed for longer than usual periods and is pretty much what contains your entire life when on exercise & operations. The CSM is carrying a daysack (civilian purchase in this case) it's a pack designed for approximately 24hrs use and is the primary patrol pack that we would use to conduct patrol. Both packs & webbings can be filled enough to 55lbs for the purpose of the task. But because the soldiers are being tested as potential JNCOs they are carrying bergens which are considerably more unwieldy, while the CSM is not and gets to choose what he carrys.

Junior Brecon is way tougher. By the time you get to Senior Brecon your a little older and a little slower, but a lot wiser for sure. The failure rate for SCBC is way higher than PSBC. The NCO cadre at Battalion is a breeze compared to SCBC.

These soldiers should be celebrated and honoured it's very painful that an average football player earn 20 times more than an average soldier so why should I allow my child venture into that. I can't die for my country to be better I will be alive to witness how it all goes 😅 Please nobody should attack me this is my own opinion
