    A Canadian tank would let you wash it, wait for you to get behind it, back up over you, listen to your screams and then suffocate and bury you with the mud covering it once it get bored.     I used to be a tank gunner in the Singapore Armed Forces. Every year we would go to Germany for bilateral exercise (we use Leo2A4) and they only gave us hoses to wash our tanks... and there was 1 time the weather was so cold the hoses they gave us froze so we had to clean the frozen mud off using brushes...

    Dry mud in a tank is always a bad thing, shit can get into the engine or clog some other exhaust system, besides grinding and screwing with mechanical components in the tracks and suspension...or worst: covering optics and the like...it also adds dead weight that increases fuel comsuption.

    @@gunmonkey1185, rather, it came from one south Korean who WOULD have to conscript (he got (un)lucky with his health exams and had to spend time just doing some desk job for the government/military), he wanted to avoid military conscription more because of "issues" that caused these suicides, the abusive behavior of some middle rank (i recall they were bellow Lieutenant, more close to private ranks, Sgt. Maybe?) Soldiers with the recruited privates.

    I just like to think that the US and UK engineers misunderstood what the generals meant by "motor pool," then the US went full "water park" on it.

    German: You can get the deluxe with track cleaner, clear coat protectant and triple foaming polish or you can get the ultimate that also comes with a double pass foaming pre-soak, and high pressure rinse. American: You can have anything you want as long as you don't mind joining all those other tanks in the giant water cannon bath.

    Current budget for US military is 650 billion a year, though i suspect very little of that is for tanks and tank washing.
