Hey everyone, first off I wanna thank everyone who watched my video and left some thoughts on it, rated and also left a sub, the reception this project received truly surprised me and I didn‘t expect to reach THIS many in this short amount of time, for a channel my size. I kind of anticipated this doing better than my previous stuff, but this is truly unprecedented. I will try to keep as much as this & quality momentum moving forward. INCOMING ESSAY: I also want to address a criticism a few people had with my video: I could‘ve gone a little further about Carbon & Prostreet. I think neither of them are bad games and I enjoyed playing both of them, still I do think that compared to UG1/UG2/MW installment they kind of fell flat, good in their own right, but mostly pale in comparison. I understand, trying to beat NFSMW near impossible, but if Carbon had more time and was fully fleshed out with its ideas it had, it could‘ve at least tied with UG1/2. ProStreet perhaps sounded like I was completely shitting on it from me barely mentioning any positives and I agree that could‘ve been rewritten by me. Its still good in its own right, but the consensus AT THE TIME OF RELEASE was that the quality was on a downward trend and the games sold less and less, which was primarily my focus. Ofc today we seem those two under a different lens and appreciate for what they did right, sometimes with nostalgia tinted glasses. Hope that cleared some things up. Not asking you to change your mind, just understand what my approach was and why I wasn‘t giving them enough shine while writing the script. Thanks. FOR TL;DR/NOT READING THIS ESSAY MFS: I was hating on Carbon/ProStreet too much, sry lol

Midnight Club 3 is the greatest racing game ever made think about it what are you looking for in a racing game variation in vehicles and competence Midnight Club 3 had both those things with its still today impressive roster of vehicles and it's competent gameplay which something like Drive didn't exactly pull off that well even though it certainly had the vehicle part down. something like project Gotham racing and Gran Turismo I really just for people with not enough attention span to get into Formula 1 if you're going to do simulated racing you might as well do it properly if you're looking to have fun you also might as well do it properly today that is Forza Horizons series. Need for Speed just feels a bit sparse barebones this is why Midnight Club 3 stands up all Need for Speed is really is just Midnight Club 3 again and again and again and again I certainly wouldn't say Need for Speed embarrassed anybody except maybe itself with boring vehicle roster BMW Porsche Bugatti yay it's like a racing games for people who don't really appreciate cars the kind of people if they went to a motor museum they would be bored of their tits. they're not real racers they just racists lol a real racer embraces everything a 1920s 4 ton 16 cylinder monstrosity the sounds like hell was opened up as well as the most cutting-edge Modern electric 14000 horsepower Richard Hammond killing machine and everything in the middle I think that's the difference between petrol heads and gamers Need for Speed is a video game it's not an engineers arthouse what is what a good racing game should be not a bunch of Music and visual noise. Your opinion is entirely unsophisticated you don't talk about Motorsport which is probably one of the biggest things that gives it away you don't really know the subject do you and I'm guessing you've no particular interest to ever learn you might as well be playing Wipeout really maybe pie should remake wipe out then you can stop pretending to give a s*** about engineering and just enjoy your Michael Bay races.

Ok. Good clarification. I just went to the comments to write about pro street, because I think it had the most advanced, the least arcade and best driving of all black box games from the series. Also, thing with different car for different type of race was great, like, you shouldn't be able to master drift and drag with the same car or at least with the same settings. Also, I've played a shit ton of MW back in the day, but now from the perspective of time I think it is a bit overrated. And I don't mean bad or something like that, but it is definitely not a perfect game.

This brings back a lot of memories. I worked at EA for 16 years. I was one of two art directors for NFSU. I was responsible for the look of the cars, modifications and upgrades, body kits and vinyls. I designed the wide body kit and selected the parts and designed the vinyls for many of the hero cars, including the metallic orange R34GTR on the cover and the one built in real life. I helped design some of the drift tracks as well. I have a tuner and racing background (I had an NA and turbo Civic and an NA / ITB / turbo AE86. It was featured in Speedhunters. It was an amazing time in game development! I am so humbled that so many people were influenced and inspired by NFSU and hold it near and dear to their hearts!

The real reason why they stopped making midnight club games was because of the bad working conditions at rockstar San Diego. Wives of the workers that worked there came together to make a post about it. Midnight club 5 was in development but canceled. Either way the ones who remained were sent to work on other projects like red dead redemption and gta 5.

Basically, some ended up working on GTA IV & its DLC + rdr1 & GTA V.

Calling Carbon "underwhelming" and prostreet a mixed bag is absolutely incorrect. I agree that the overall atmosphere of carbon is not as full-fledged as MW but it's nowhere as near as "bad". Actually in some parts its almost as good since it brings new mechanics and content that can be seen in UG but not MW. Progression is, hands down, better (in races only tho) since the game actively rewards you after almost every race and isnt as overwhelming as doing 5-9 15km long races one after the other (which is also kind of a letdown since the game is surprisingly short). Prostreet is an absolute banger but it was just not well received at the time purely because of the cultural impact of the games between 03-06. Its a very good standalone title and people who flame it most likely never played it for more than 20 minutes. There are some good games in the franchise post prostreet depending on your taste since they get really thematic after it but calling yourself a nfs fan while only playing the old gems isnt really true.

Carbon was indeed underwhelming. It is a game launched just after Most Wanted as a sequel, bringing Cross, the customization from Underground games and night races that a lot of people missed in MW. It brought crews, canion races and drift back to the table. Yet, it just failed to impress. Being underwhelming doesn't mean the game was bad. It's not on pair with Underground 1 & 2 and Most Wanted. Carbon bring much stuff to the table, but not enough to make it a game on pair on it's predecessors. They set themselves for failure if you look back closely - that game was being compared not only with MW or Underground, it was put in a direct position to face MW, Underground and Underground 2! I am sure that with properly time to develop the game, it could be another legendary NFS. Instead, it's a good game perceived as underwhelming on the series.

Pro Street played great on PS3 and it's original era gaming PCs. If you played the ports or on later gen PCs the game was broken completely or even unplayable. Pro Street was never updated nor sold ever again, even tho I find it odd because EA did sell lots of broken crap games for years, scamming people. I would rather say they avoid this game due to licences more then anything else. They don't want to invest into that. It's kinda more logical to invest into licences for a new game then old one.

also helped that they alternated between "simcade" style releases (pro street, shift) and "traditional nfs" releases (ProStreet, Undercover, Shift, Nitro/World/Hotpursuit, Shift 2, The Run...) so even if people didn't like the "simcade" games they didn't have long to wait for a "traditional" style one to return... I liked the idea of their "simcade" games to be honest, bit poorly implemented in the shift games imo as they clearly wanted to take the sim concept but make it more accessible to casual players (hence "simcade") and yet it ended up being harder to handle than an actual sim! but they had potential as a way for EA to bring out an "NFS" game every year while keeping the street racing NFS games fresh by allowing 2 years between their releases. If they did release pro street, then shift, then shift 2 all in one go though, people would've really lost interest as they'd have had to wait 4 years between Carbon and the next street racing game :/

Carbon has gotten the night feel right with a mysteroius blend in there a great car collection a good story and ofcourse CANYON DUELS. sure the game was short and only required 4-5 hours to get 100 completion but i think a game that rewards you constantly like parts cars and upgrades is much betyter imo then in most wanted when you have to strive for hours in higher levels to get an engine or a transmission upgrade ( No hate for MW though it is my fav game from the entire franchise) Prostreet was a total banger and is one the games that is very close to my heart along side all the games from 2002 to 2007. Nevada Speed Challenges and Drag and drifts along side so much customization and a huge car collection prostreet deserved better but it was just not very well received. However now a days people are recognizing prostreet and carbon as amazing games as the E NFS has failed to deliver the same amount of fun in the newer titles however imo Heat is an exception bcz it was returning to the roots of the old titles it had a blend of many of the old titles from the older nfs. apart from that a good and well explained video

NFS underground will always hold a special place in my heart. At church I made an offhand comment/joke about how I wouldn’t be getting Christmas presents that year because money was tight and I was already a teenager. That Christmas I hear my doorbell ring a car speed off. On my front door was a big basket of gifts. One of those gifts was the new need for speed underground. I’ll never get to thank whoever coordinated that. But that game started my lifelong love of racing games. Still wishing for a reboot. NFS heat was pretty fun. But something about underground. Still have it. Played it a year ago and it still holds up remarkably well. Not sure if it’s just me but it’s still a graphically impressive game to me.

It was the night time scene that really made these two feel like the first Fast and the Furious. I played underground 2 first so it holds a special place in my heart that puts it on top. However things like motorcycles, trucks and other special vehicles made Midnight a better game if I'm being honest. It was basically underground 2 with more features.

I'm surprised you didn't talk about NFS Heat. It's the best game in the series since carbon and is finally comparable to those og games, and it beats them in a lot of aspects. EA did kill the support and studio but because of the studio's incompetence regarding multiplayer development being very weak. The game was recently confirmed to have sold over 10 million copies and was the biggest launch for an NFS game. The franchise has been inconsistent, but it looks like it's gonna be an upward trend, since the recently revealed Unbound seems to be building on top of the foundation that Heat laid upon. Forza Horizon is the dominant title but lately it seems to have stagnated and the fanbase is skeptical. Crew is gearing up for a sequel if the rumours are to be believed. TDU is coming back and we have competition from Indie games like CarX Street. With the genre seemingly making somewhat of a comeback, don't you think it's the perfect time for a new Midnight Club?

Really enjoyed the video. As a big fan of (old) Rockstar Games and NFS, this took me on a good nostalgia trip 🙂 I was surprised to see your sub count at the end. Good luck with the channel now that you've gained some traction! Liked & susbscribed.

okay so wtf i m new here, i've watched the whole video and was surprised at the end to notice that you only have 1.26k subs(which is a lot but still). the quality and effort put into that video was insane and super clean, i m genuinely surprised

nfs ps is gold, don't even try to change my mind. About optimization - yes, it suck ass. Still, i'm not agreed with the "worst driving physics". It is called simulator. You see, underground and mw fanboys were used to "arcade" driving physics, so i'm 100% sure that most of all players hated this game because they were bad at it. Just like you. I played this game with the keyboard, dualshock and the pc wheel. And i was never unpleased with the handling. Plot is similar as in mw. Visual, design, tracks, music, car lot, characters - every fucking thing in this game is awesome. Keep it in mind.

EA has never "Almost" embarrassed RS. If anything RS/MC3 embarrassed them. That's why NFS games copied a lot of things from the MC series. Let's be real here.
