Thanks for making this video, as someone that hasn’t managed to dive into the comics yet, I appreciate being in the loop of the series’ lore!

All of these stories spread across different mediums (tv show, comics, books, etc) gives me a lot of hope for DAD’s storyline. It makes me think that the developers have really put a lot of love and care into an aspect of the game that we all love 😊 I’m looking forward to playing, even if it might take a while to come out.

I feel like these are our first friends and it really makes me believe that we're going to have a faction origin.

Reading the last panel and knowing the next step is DaD got me so pumped.

Having you go through it all at once like this (I read them as they were coming out) helps me put the story into perspective, and helps me understand what it could be in the context of a prequel to Dreadwolf. The emphasis on the individual factions does make me hopeful that we'll get origin stories again. Or at least that the factions will make for an important part of the story.

sometimes i dont understand people why would you consider him your enemy he is a man who is against slavery your goals should be the same and its not like he is dumb he will research a way to bring down the veil without killing so many, but his goals would be for the benefit of his kind as it should be this planet belongs to the spirits, mortals randomly appeared

Two things: 1) the way the story ended. Does that mean the inquisitor and his team from trespasser will not be involved? 2) This may seem out of pocket, but who is running Kirkwall while Varric is gallivanting in Tevinter and possibly during dread wolf?

This seems obvious, because both in Trespasser the Inquisitor said that you need to find someone Solas doesn't know (so that he doesn't get ahead of our moves), and Varric did the same at the end of the Missing. Regardless of what we did with the Inquisition at the end of the DLC, the comic and Tevinter Nights are going their own way, which was very thin between whether Inky disbanded the organization or left it. From the animated series Absolution, we know from the words of one of the characters that it has been dissolved. It was similar in the Callback story from Tevinter Nights, where the action takes place in an abandoned Skyhold and a few short dialogues hinted very gentle that the Inquisition is disbanded in the Bioware canon (the one that exists for books, comics and series). As for Varric, that's a great question. It's not the first time he leaves Kirkwall for days. Apparently he has some kind of replacement, but actually I consider it a slight plot hole :D Even if Hawke survives in DAI, he's not coming back to Kirkwall, so?

I think we will have rhe inquisitior and his old team but not as companions but as advisors giving you insight into Solas but getting into action since Solas knows them too well so they are better giving the new hero advice on how to deal with him

THAT MURAL IS A FANTASTIC NEW ADDITON, but my tinfoil hat points towards being a depiction of Andruil and her lover Ghilan'nain, maybe even her mortal death and subsequent ascension to Godhood (also, their headpieces remind of the figures we've seen on previous posters and promotional materials). This might have a direct connection to the future game, but in my solasmancer mind I'd like to think that if those are in fact Andruil and her mortal lover, he might be thinking of a similar thing for Lavellan and grant her some kind of Godhood.

Did anyone else feel like there was something a bit weird about the mural of the two figures? I mean, at first glance, I thought the same thing as Jack, and it was a depiction of Mythal dying but the costumes seem... wrong? Going by the assumption that the one on the ground is Mythal and the one in grey robes cradling Mythal is Solas, why is Solas wearing Mythal's robes? We've seen that curved headress Solas is wearing on the statues of Mythal in the deep roads in trespasser, and also in some concept art of Mythal weilding a grey staff with a similarly curved blade on top. So if that is indeed Solas in the Mythal outfit, it seems more likely that this is not a scene depicting Mythal's death, but instead that final scene of Trespasser when Solas takes Mythal's power and "kills" her.

It's the same two head pieces as the dreadwolf tidbit they put out. Forget which one, but they introduce the next game and you see the same red wolf fresco with the two headpieces on each side. They are also the two on the circle that have different coloring.

So we went on a wild goose chase after solas and did not find him. We just got introduced to 4 factions we might meet or play as in DaD

I wasnt expecting them to find solas, thats going to be in the game, finally confronting him. No way they put that confrontation in a comic book with a very small audience.

I'm starting to see a patern here that I really like, throughout the comic solas so far has been presented as a friendly antagonist , like a misled ally and I really want to keep it like that in the upcoming game

me too, I noticed and i was so glad they kept with that route. Solas doesn't see himself as a "villain" and he definitely isn't malicious, all he's wanted is the best for his people, he's clearly misguided and that makes him so interesting.

Misled or not, that guy's head is destined to be cut off and be put on a pike! (Note: I'll to the Vir Coto wave, too once his ugly mug is on said pike!) Someone who has no problem with causing genocide (after all he doesn't care if all humans die, which is a possibility when he sunders the veil completely (I mean his bad try with the orb created a lot of tears in the veil that spat out demons that regular people, even regular soldiers, are ill prepared to fight! Hell, he probably doesn't even care for the city-elfs!) needs to be stopped and put in the ground!

Let me know all your thought down below, what did you make of The Missing? What will Solas do with the Stone? Which character/faction are you most excited to see in Dreadwolf?

It's quite interesting how Solas grand end of the current world plan (as we understood it at the end of trespasser) is slowly being dialed down to "ill try to limit the destruction, i don't wanna be a villain in your story Varric". Not complaining, my main is Solavellan so it's all good news, but it is noticeable.

That painting of Splas holding a dying Mythal! That mess in Arlathan Forest of the Veil chaos! With the Cruxious (sp?) Stone, Solas will make the whole of Thedas like that?! What a mess for players! Will we have to fix that?! Ohhh boy.... Bring down Tevinter with the Stone? All the creeps will be everywhere. And the D.W. will devour the Black City?! Sola -- I HAVE QUESTIONS!! 😂

Looking back through all these comics- it makes me feel better about it-- the build up for them to stop made me mad at first- (so hyped for the next couple of months)

Since this comic heavily leans into DA4 and the next protagonist. I'm surprised they've released this comic so soon since the rumor is the release is over a year away. Seems like something that would come out like a few months before the games release or at least before finally revealing the DA4 protagonist. Fingers crossed we get to hear more about the next protagonist soon! 😁

Thank you, Jack! All of the factions seem interesting and Origin-like in scope with crazy good replayability! My heart goes out to the Grey Wardens but I want to play them all.

For the briefest moment, I thought Jack had finally snapped after the Summer Games Fest and this "Dragon Age: The Missing" was sarcastic.

If we have the choice, I'm feeling the Shadow Dragons just for the name. Alternately, maybe the player character won't belong to any of the factions and will have to make those Bioware-style decisions on who to support. Either way works for me.

For me its the Antivan crows that I want to see... and ofc the Grey Wardens and I'm very curious about this shadow dragons!

Thanks for the video. It leaves me hoping that the authors of these, and other comics, have had something to do with the video game's narrative. If we do get to associate our character with one of these factions, I would pick the Veil Jumpers.

So strange hearing my name on my favourite series 😭😭 but I love Neve!!

makes me wonder if at the last before she talked to solas and she put a little of herself thur the eluvian i wonder if it went thur to one of her daughters or whoever took the drink at the well of sorrow's. Anow they r giving us these cool groups where maybe depending on what we choose to be will may set us in one of them or if maybe there will be an extra group at start of game, for example (an Ancient Elf that know a little bit of what is going on but they disagree with what solas wants to do) and has been looking for one of these groups and runs into varric and hardening in the forest which is also someone that solas would not expect or know about. Sorry I got long winded lol but all these possibilities Thanks alot for making this video for all of us your the best thumbs up :)

I don't think that it's Mythal. The horned headwear and the outfit are completely different. Both elves are women, and their headwears are the same shape as two of 7 symbols used for the Evanuris in the recent trailer. These are probably Ghilan'nain and Andruil.

I hope it’s setting the setting up for DaD lol 😂 Still we still have maybe another year or 2 before the game releases. So they still have plenty of time to set more stuff up.

If those factions ARE origins, trying to chose my first go-through is gonna kill me 😂

How do you know what are the choices? And are there any at all? This is just a guess with these four factions. Maybe there won't be any factions, or maybe there will be six. Nobody said anything to comment on this matter at all.

Well let's just say I didn't get what I wanted at the end. I realise I am naive lol. But I just wanted a little hit to keep me going... While the next game cooks slowly to a delicious golden readiness. Honestly I just wanted to see Varric speak to him as a friend. I just want to bring him back to us 😭

So, I know this is probably going to be a rather unpopular opinion, but I find myself a bit disappointed with this new comic. It’s not that I don’t like it, I just wanted more. There are a few factors working into this, so allow me to explain. Let’s start off with the good things first, as there is always praise to give. I loved seeing Varric and Harding again. And seeing so many book characters come to life visually was a great treat. I also like the implication that we will have 4 factions to choose from in the game. On those accounts, an absolutely superb job. Right, onto why I still felt a bit disappointed by the comic. 1. This story, to me at least, doesn’t really have a proper climax. The main goal throughout the comic is to catch up with Solas (though let’s be real: what would Varric and Harding have done had they succeeded?). But at the last second, we get this freed slaves gathering, and then it just ends. 2. The ending is kinda redundant in the grand scheme of things. After the aforementioned slave gathering, Varric and Harding kinda just give up and come to the same conclusion the Inquisitor reached in Trespasser: They need someone with whom Solas is entirely unfamiliar with. So, it took Varric several years and a few comic runs to come to literally the same conclusion? Did we really need another plot where the protagonist tries to catch up with Solas to fully cement that idea? 3. Aside from introducing the Veil Jumpers, the Shadow Dragons, and the Crucius Stone, this comic didn’t really bring much new to the table. And the aforementioned three things were teases at best, so I’m sure we’re gonna get an even bigger introduction for them in the game. 4. This is personally my biggest issue with everything that came out after Tevinter Nights. Everything just feels like set-up. I know and appreciate that they have to set the stage for Dreadwolf, but that’s pretty much all they’ve been doing for the past few years. One teaser story after another, none of them really standing on their own. Was the set-up bad? Of course not, it was all very entertaining. But I would really like to see some more standalone stories like Masked Empire or Last Flight that do connect to the larger narrative but don’t make it their main priority. With this comic, that’s been presented as THE prequel for Dreadwolf, the one story where I fully expected set-up and nothing else, the set-up was kinda…meh. Most of the things happening, as well as the state of the world, are things we already know from Tevinter Nights, which I personally consider a much better Dreadwolf prequel. I don’t think I would be as critical of the comic as I am if it didn’t end up being just another Dreadwolf teaser without us knowing anything about the game’s release date. I was hoping that the delay of Issue 4 meant that we would finally be getting a release date. But nope, the complete opposite happened with it getting apparently delayed again. How many more Dreadwolf teasers are we going to get before Bioware is finally able to show us something? I’m all for not rushing and taking your time to ensure quality, but could Bioware at least talk to us? This constant obscurity surrounding the development of the game has me a bit worried, I won’t lie. So yeah. I’m probably the only one who was left a bit frustrated with this comic, and if you loved it, amazing, more power to you. I would gladly discuss it here, in a civilised manner, of course.

Story hints are cool, but id like a hint about the engine >> do we have to ride the frosty struggle bus to mod again ?

Deep Roads?? ugh I hate the deep roads I hope he isn't there in the game hahaha

i haven't read the comic yet, but looking at the screens you shared, what on earth is *wrong* with the graphics in it?? it's really all over the place, like charter's ears being suddenly enormous, evka being for a moment slim like a willow instead of dwarf-shaped, and just varric in general. i really like the designs of the characters, esp neve and strife (but please, i'm begging bw to not whitewash everyone again). i very much like showing some of the fun tevinter nights characters and i hope they'll have big role in the new game, but from what you're saying abt the comic it really sounds like the whole comic was just briefly introducing some character the reader was supposed to know from tn - something i really hated in callback short story and i don't think i'll like it here, as far as i know. i'm pretty sure it was done better in missing than callback, but imo callback was just horribly written, so the bar is literally on the floor. also as far as my math goes, varric should be 40-something now, not like 60. he's literally the same age that solas, blackwall or vivienne were in dai, why are they drawing him *like this*?? i really miss furukawa's art, looking at those screenshots. anyway, i'm really quite done with his character in general, but i hope harding plays a big role in dad.

Is it just me, or do the illustrations of the final issue seemed to have dropped drasitcally in quality and detail comparee to the previous ones?

The comic is uneven in this matter because each issue had a different author. Depends on taste. I do not have any problems with the last issue.

I wish they had focused more on just a few characters or one or two factions, we didnt get to know anyone well enough. Not much personality shown form the new characters becauase they only got a few pages each. Hopefully the characters in the game will have tonnes of personality and depth

All the characters have a background, as (as stated in the video) they come from occasional stories and primarily from the Tevinter Nights anthology. There you have shown the depth of most of these characters. The comic is not for that, especially since the issues were pretty short.

Because... is he old? The comic takes place in the 9:50s Dragon.

This comic showed nothing except some general concepts of what a veilless world might look like. Also, Varric's and Lace's actions made no sense. Terrible.

I’m really not looking forward to this game anymore. Anytime a game series expands itself to the point the story cannot be told in just the game but through books, comics, movies or tv shows and if you don’t watch or read all of it then you won’t understand of experience like you should. Appreciate your hard work but I think I’m done.

It's kinda sad that the only dragon age content we are getting is some stupid comics that probably will be ignored and declared non-canon.
