How does SmartDrive work with a wheelchair?

The entire system weighs only 12.5 lbs. which is almost half that of a traditional power assist wheels and attaches to the back of almost any manual wheelchair, including folding chairs.

i love my smartdrive power assist , had it now for 5 months
This is so much more helpful than the perimobil video. I could not figure out how to make it work.

Can I use both the seitch control button and the smart watch? Ad the seitch control button doesn't allow me to go backwards

A Smart Drive is a power assist device that can be attached to a manual or rigid manual wheelchair. It acts like cruise control for the wheelchair where once the motors are engaged, all that is required of the user is to steer their chair and adjust the speed. The MSRP cost for the unit is $7529.00. Insurance may cover the cost of a Smart Drive in some instances if a user has been an ultra lightweight manual wheelchair user for greater than one year.

While the SmartDrive system is rather nice and reasonably functional, the $4000 to nearly $7000 price tag is beyond outrageous... I can get a fully functional brand new scooter for less than that. How dare you gouge the hell out of those who already have limited mobility! Especially when anyone with a modicum of intelligence can clearly see when you are charging three to five times what it is worth... I can build an equally functional system for less than half of what you are charging and *STILL* make a reasonable profit!
