Gaethje's striking defense is extremely questionable. He gets hit and wobbled almost every fight. Seems like the ideal opponent for Fiziev to land his powerful and accurate shots.

To be fair, Fiziev is also incredibly open to shots, especially the right hand. I still see Fiziev winning bc he's got youth and tremendous skills, but Gaethje is more of a sniper than people give him credit for.

I think it’s a toss up. Any guy could get ko’d. But Justin stands right in front and will get hit. I think Fiziev will destroy Justin with kicks to the body which will gas him out opening ko shots to the head.

Fiziev was a really entertaining character on his embedded series. I think with a win over Justin he’d make for an entertaining title contender and even more interesting champion. It’s one of those fights we’re I hate to see someone lose… …but I’m pulling for Fiziev. Need some new blood our here

You can only fight like that for so long. Cage fighters don't usually last into there late 30's. Unless it's the heavier weight classes. Also your fighting base. Is it striking or wrestling/grappling

Impressive career but those wars could start to affect him now that he’s getting older

Gaethje hasn’t finished an opponent in 3 years (and that was Ferguson he finished which hasn’t aged well) and Gaethje lost 2 of his last 4 fights. Fiziev hasn’t lost a fight since 2019 (his only loss)…he’s won 6 in a row since and finished his last two opponents. I think Fiziev outworks Gaethje this match and it goes to a decision and he wins by points.

the difference is gaethje has been fighting the elite of the elite he's faced only top 10 fighters since his debut. Fiziev has one elite win and that's RA. He arguably lost to bobby green and even against Ridell the fight was close until the finish. I think its a pretty even fight but I got gaethje winning

@@junaidahmed2235 I do think you have a very valid point. We haven’t seen Fiziev fight the level of competition that Gaethje has…and Justin’s only losses have all been to former champions. This will be a very interesting and exciting fight. In my bets, I bet on Fiziev in one parlay and did a hedge bet on Gaethje because that’s how close I think the fight will be.

Fiziev beats Gaethje the same way Alvarez and Poirier beat him and the same way Chandler would have beaten him if Chandler had any sort of fight IQ. Weather the storm. Touch him. Move laterally. Move in and out. Throw combos. Take it into the later rounds. Gaethje has taken massive punishment in his career, he's getting old and these days he gets buzzed or finished almost every time out. This should be Fiziev's showcase.

You kinda rendered this entire video pointless yesterday when you said “I concede his [Fiziev] standup game is better”. Given his zero successful takedowns, it’s not going to ground. If Justin wins it’ll be on the feet despite you saying Fiziev has the advantage and Justin saying Fiziev is quicker.

The threat of the take down is real, but there is none here on Justins behalf by choice is why I think Raf is coming in as the favorite

I believe Fiziev's hands are faster, and he will stop Justin inside the distance by peppering him over and over. Justin will not adjust and start swinging wildly. That will lead to the end

Things go bad for gaethje on his feet all the time and he never goes for the takedown

I dunno. It feels like this happens every couple of years. Maybe a tad longer. We get a group of top guys and they are great. But then they start to age and the younger guys just continue to get better and more skills. And we think the current guys are great but then they start losing. And we think it’s crazy they lost, but they get older and loose wrestling, and younger guys come in with better skills. Think about it. Think about Chuck Liddell. He’d get beat a lot more if he fought today. Same with most of the old legends. There are always exceptions of course.

I think after all those years fighting the same style (it's Gaethje i am talking about), his chin might be compromised. Fiziev is younger, hard puncher and i think he can go through Justin and KO/TKO him with some nasty combo like he did Moicano. If Justin doesn't set his kicks properly he will get into trouble, if he does it will benefit his hard punches, but Rafa will know this. I think Rafa has the edge on this one

Fiziev has so good bodyshots, it will hurt gaethje hard because his defense is not good enough. Fiziev's technique is also better I think. Gaethje will not use his wrestling (don't forget the Sambo background from fiziev), he wants a brawl and wants to show that he is the better striker and tougher one, but will fail! Gaethje had some awesome wars in the octagon but this will break you by time. Fiziev is younger, hungry, wants it more and has the experience of over 200 Muay Tay fights.

thanks, chael. hadn't thought about this beyond striker vs. striker...a toss-up. bobby green lost by decision but landed more than fiziev. gaethje knocked down the champion twice in round 1. somehow your favorite fighter's favorite fighter and his raw power have become underappreciated. gaethje by ko in round 1, maybe round 2.

I never heard of Fiziev until yesterday, but I watched Khabib submit him twice, easily. Justin has absorbed tons of damage and does not seem to care. He apparently does not work on wrestling and it shows. Fiziev may very well beat him if he gets Justin on the ground.
