Ойын-сауық

How does a classical piano piece sound on an accordion? I played the same song on the piano and the accordion. See the difference between the arrangements!

Jokes aside, the accordion is a more capable instrument than is given credit here. Most pieces composed for any particular instrument tend to sound best on it. You need to entirely rearrange a piece to try to make it fit on the respective instrument - sometimes it's very hard to do. I play the piano, guitar, accordion, trumpet and flute, and have found that some pieces just don't suit certain instruments well by default.

Wie call it Register in german and I don't know how it is called in english) it can sound beautiful. Also, he he used the wrong register(?) for most oft Thema Songs he was always using the same one, and thats a total No-Go

I think, that he plays these classical tunes on the accordion at too great a tempo. It makes them sound too "festive". A slower tempo would more than do them justice on the accordion. In fact some of them may actually be more appropriate for the orchestral sound that an accordion, like an organ, is more able to accomplish, than a piano. ...I know, because I played some of them, when I was inexperienced and had no choice but to play them slowly. I would like to hear him play them slowly, although, I realize, that isn't always so easy to adjust your tempo, when playing an accordian, due to the speed at which you operate the bellows affecting other aspects of the sound, such as amplitude and in some cases, can be difficult to not be somehow influenced by the rhythm. I suspect, that this virtuoso is up to the task!

What makes the accordion (both piano and button box) such a wonderful instrument is that it is light and portable, does not need to be plugged in, and produces great music in a variety of types -- Italian tarrantellas, Viennese waltzes, Polish and Czrech polkas, Irish lullabies, French street music, Argentinian tangos, Tex-Mex two-steps, and Russian, Gypsy and Yiddish folk songs, to mention just a few genres.

@@urielmenachem8986 I was going to say I agree with everything except the "light" part. It CAN be light depending on the size, but my full size 120-bass piano accordion is a solid 32lbs/14.5kg and the only way to make it light is if I had lots of helium balloons 😂 I wholeheartedly agree with everything else though. There is such a variety of timbre I can get out of mine. Mine has 3 bass registers (low, mid, high) and 4 treble registers (low, mid, mid, high), and I have 3 combinations of bass to choose from (low + mid; mid + high; low + mid + high) and 7 combinations of treble (low; mid; low + mid; mid + mid; low + high; high; low + mid + mid + high). The accordion is a cross between a harmonica on steroids and a handheld reed organ. With the bellows, you can control the volume dynamics exactly like a bow does for stringed instruments, which very much sets it apart from most all other keyboard instruments.

I have two issues with this video: first is that he speeds up every one of the songs, making them sounds different based on that alone, and the second is that he is always using the same button patterns on the left hand. Not all songs have to be played with that oscillating "fundamental note, chord, fundamental, chord" pattern. The accordion can sound as dramatic as a pipe organ (just much smaller) when played by a master (not me, btw, I am but a beginner).

Why he speed up the songs? Because of the tone of accordion, it need to be faster a little bit . And why he play the same buttons pattern? Because of "Rhythm", is not like at the piano while your left hand ("melody") move all around on the keys . On accordion you can play easily 1-2 or on octaves, and beside that you don't need "superior" things on accordion you just play it for fun

You're using a very "wet" register setting on the accordion which doesn't work for all those melodies. Also, a "free-bass" accordion would let you do more with the left hand. Fun video though.

The songs on the Piano sound either dreary: Like a rainy day in London. A wife writes her husband that's away in the great war. A single tear gathers at her eye as the quill frantically scrapes across the parchment. Or: A fancy dinner party takes place in a colonial style house. Large foyer, powdered wigs, delicate crystal glasses cling together as the butler modestly serves everyone. The accordion: Either an Italian soap opera , or a bunch of Dutch people at a beer hall...
