George... your point on never deciding it’s time to go made me cry. Recently my life’s been shit. I’m not gonna sugar coat it. I lost my job cause of COVID, my 17 year old dog died, and my girlfriend just broke up with me a few days ago. My whole life I’ve never considered suicide but things are just not getting better... I know I’ll feel ok again one day but it really sucks right now and I’ve been wanting to cry for a while now but couldn’t let it out. Thanks George, Logan and mike for being on this podcast and helping me with everything.. seriously

I watched the guru episode and the key takeout for me was he would always stay on the fence. His message was by not knowing or claiming to know he has the potential to learn more as he hasn’t restricted his mindset with the thought of knowing. So whenever he spoke he would speak from all aspects without ever telling you what his opinion is. The key to his talent is to have you question yourself without him giving you your answer.

Interesting take. Do you think his doing that to get them to think to take some potential benefit from their discussion or do you think he does that so he doesn’t have to answer the questions as he doesn’t know the answers to what his messages are if that makes sense?

George Clooney has no social media, which I think was a perfectly valid strategy in a world that used to rely purely on the traditional press to alert the general public of upcoming projects. In 2020 though, the internet has far eclipsed the press. For example, I learned about Chadwick Boseman's untimely passing within minutes, straight from his Twitter account. All of Boseman's followers would have known before any media outlet. TL;DR yeah ksi would destroy george clooney if they both dropped merch tomorrow lmao

Can we acknowledge that George completely missed Sadhguru’s point about the whole heaven thing? He wasn’t advocating killing yourself AT ALL. Sadly, George gets on my nerves more and more every episode.

How do you make the choice to go to heaven. Please answer that without using the words “suicide” , “killing yourself” or anything closely related. Watch you not because you can’t get from ‘A’ to ‘C’ without passing thru ‘B’. He might not be advising people to kill themselves but he planted a dangerous thought. You can’t deny this, almost half the comments are arguing this so clearly a message has been cast. You argument is the intellectual equivalent of an ostrich burying its own head in the dirt.

George, Sahguru didn't say that if you want to go (die) you can go. He simply said that 'if you know Heaven is real and blissful there, why aren't you in a hurry to go there and leave this terrible world behind?' I agree with the response you gave him which is that Christianity says it's wrong to take your own life. That's a good answer for me but I just want to correct your recollection of the question.

it is Georges belief that Sadguru questioned that is why he feels threatened, if he would have listened to him with an open mind like Logan and andre did he wouldn't have misinterpreted him. we have been told so many things from the start(our beliefs which we actually don't know about) we feel afraid when all of that is questioned.

Logan is right - Sadhguru was misunderstood. I had never even heard of him before and I can still tell you that he was misunderstood. Bear with me while I go off on this post-smoke ramble and break this down... Sadhguru literally said to George, “I AGREE WITH YOU. You have no right to take anyone’s life, yours or someone else’s.” He was never disagreeing with him on that. Sometimes, and in this case, people latch onto certain words and sentences (in this case, the hypothetical question, “if you truly believe that if there is some place better than this, then why are you not gone?” When he was referring to if you truly believe that heaven specifically is better than life on earth, and not factoring in the belief that suicide is a mortal sin part) emotions take over and they stop listening and hearing what the other person is actually saying. Sadhguru said that the idea that there is another place truly better than this life is because people are suffering within themselves. He said that both joy and suffering happen within you, and what is within you is within your control. And if how you feel is within your control, wouldn’t you choose to feel blissful instead of miserable? Yes. And if you truly felt blissful/pleasant/happy, would you always be thinking about going to another place that is more pleasant (committing suicide)? No. He was saying that suicide is built upon the belief that there is somewhere else that is better than this life, and people who are suffering want to get to that better place. The trouble with this and George is that George DOES believe that heaven is a better place; however, he also believes that suicide is a sin, so the two cancel each other out. Sadhguru reiterated to George again that he was NOT saying that people SHOULD go to that better place if they are suffering right now. He was saying that people who are suffering (or being a martyr) wholeheartedly believe that they are doing the right thing, at that time. That does not translate into condoning committing suicide. He was simply trying to explain the motivation behind when people do - and unfortunately people do, and will continue to do so. That’s just the sad truth. George says that he wakes up every day feeling blissful and brings heaven down to earth, which was the same point Sadhguru was trying to make - be present in this life and make it the place you want to be. As a religious man who believes in heaven and it being THE best place, George is still able to say that he chooses to be in THIS life on earth. Sadhguru’s point was just that someone like George, or anyone else who is truly happy and content with their life and feels joy and whatever other associated warm and fuzzy feelings, would not be wishing to be somewhere else. Truly happy people don’t commit purposeful suicide. They don’t even think about it. Absolutely not. Again, even if you do believe in heaven and that it is in fact the best, you also believe that suicide is a sin. It’s a built-in safety net so that people aren’t just offing themselves under the belief that they will be welcomed into utopia. People who really do wish to go somewhere else ARE SUFFERING. That is a very simple and honest fact. Sadhguru’s point being, you can make this life whatever you wish, but wish to make it a happy one HERE. You have the power to change however you feel within yourself. Even if you are suffering, you can ALWAYS make the changes to get to the point where you believe that this life is truly the better place.

The guru said that religion is used to explain questions we created ourselves, which I agree with him on, however, science is used to explain questions we created ourselves, so why not disbelieve in science? "Textbook nonsense" as this guru calls it. I agree that it is never 100% knowledge, science can never reach past a hypothesis, however, science does exactly what religion does. It attempts to explain nature and our surroundings. So why not have a belief in something, that provides experimental evidence (using patterns and regulations). To have no belief would be in my opinion, to live blindly. Also, this guru says he's not a philosopher when he literally is philosophizing every time he fuckin talks lol.
