How Do You Know You're Ready to Apply for Jobs?

Let's discuss how you know you're ready to start applying for the jobs you find for companies you're interested in. We first discuss the mental side of things where you're never going to be fully ready. If you are 50-60% comfortable with the job requirements, you should probably go ahead and apply.
Finally there is the interview process that you need to get comfortable with which will make it much much easier to hunt for jobs.

A year and a half ago, I got hired as an iOS Dev out of Mobile Makers (iOS Dev Bootcamp), 100% on my culture fit/personality. The truth is, after an 8 week bootcamp, you don't really know too much, so being a hard-working, good person, with a great attitude is really your strongest asset when you're early in your career. I'd argue that's more important that technical fit when applying for your VERY FIRST developer job.

Oh my, You nailed it.. we need more videos like this one to break that fear of job application/interviewing. I totally agree, the more interviews we take, the more comfortable with it we'll get

I've just seen a few of your videos. Will probably watch more. Thank you for sharing your advice about the journey of a developer. I'm just starting out and I'm lost. I have an associates from ITT tech. All I retained is the basic concepts of programming java and website stuff. Your videos have helped guide me. So, thank you.

Great video! I guess what most of us beginners or advanced beginners are looking for is what topics you must absolutely know before applying for jobs. Your brief list towards the end of the video was really interesting. A video specifically on that would be much appreciated! thumbs up if you think the same ;)

After 19 years of being a solo freelance developer, I went on about 5 - 6 interviews before I noticed that Lagunitas Brewing Company was hiring. Came up here and interviewed, got the job. Now I'm primarily doing Swift development and loving every minute of it!

Thanks so much for this video. I'm currently searching for my first job after boot camp and sometimes get very discouraged with results. I know I will find something I just have to keep grinding. You're the best!

Brian, I finished out some concepts and ran them through a professional team to build out my investor deck. Basically, because I have no category, since this is an INSANE product and is not just a listing app like Facebook or a selfie app like Instagram. I am sorting through candidate VCs next week. The list is provided by my consultant through GPEC (Greater Phoenix Economic Council) and since I'm printing money, I wondered if you may want to print some with me. I can NDA you into the project. It will blow your mind, but if we have to remember that, though we have "0" competition, we have license to do this thing right. Thanks, Bob
