    G’day folks. I was a little remiss and carried away in the moment when I switched the detector back to field 1 to run over the shotty pellet. Because I run with such a notched out setting there was no way it was going to pick up the pellet. Sorry for the balls up on that little clip. Thanks for watching.

    Hey Joanne keep it simple and use the factory settings, I like Factory Gold 1, notches out hot rocks and ferrous but still deadly on small gold. Don't be afraid to turn the sensitivity down in mineralized ground [16-18 ] or it will chatter like two gossips at a church picnic.

    IDK if maybe someone already mentioned that but when you switched fields to park 1 to detect the lead pellet at 9min, and the detector was silent, you had 1 through about 14 discriminated out/off. Then switched back to gold where you have everything but iron turned on.

    G'day CBK! In the mid 90s I was doing a lot of detecting in the triangle but spent most of it around Wedderburn, and found a lot of nuggets ranging from a half gram up to 10 grams in one particular surfaced area, I always wondered what small ones I had left behind, I was using the sd2000 at the time, wish I could take a NOX 800 back to that place at that time and see what I left behind, and of course id like to be 30yrs younger as well, it wasn't unusual to find several nuggets in a day in that area, never came across another spot like it unfortunately, still, a great memory of a great time in the gold fields, its great to see that color coming out of the ground, even if its not me digging it! thanks Andrew! Cheers mate!

    Hello Andrew thanks for the great tutorial on gold, my new place has glacial stone droppings , and many rivers so I will try for gold and your tips will help a lot. I noticed many detecting channels have switched to the Deus 2 as their main detector but I think that will work to your advantage as you are using the Nox 800 and many of us general public are Noxers . Over time the Noxerites will find your channel and like birds of a feather detect together and make your channel grow! Howdy Andrew, You weren't prattling on. You were waxing lyrical. There isn't much gold to find here in Pennsylvania though I have read that there are places where you can find flakes and tiny nuggets that were deposited by glaciers during the last ice age. I don't think I have the patience to look for it. I'm going to stick with keyhole escutcheons and buttons. That was a great lesson if I ever change my mind and I really enjoyed the video. At 9.34s in Field 1 you have nearly half the display notched/discriminated out, so its no wonder it's hardly hitting that pellet...I hunt with Field 1 wide open, and regularly get small shotgun pellets like that, plus tiny bits of foil and tiny shards of wire...I hit a pellet the other day and out of curiousity weighed it when I got home and it was .39grams...I should add that was with the standard 11" coil as well...

    What a nice little chunky nugget there you scored for your efforts at the end. Great work Andrew, Ive never used the nox for gold. May I ask why you selected 14 as the sensitivity setting? Is this to do with the mineralization in the soil in the area you are working? What does the "tracking" feature actually do and do you have to ground balance the machine in noisy soil every 10 feet or so?

  • @TheCoffeeBushKid

    @TheCoffeeBushKid

    Жыл бұрын

    Sorry Mate. This comment went to the 'held for review' file. I was told by a mate at Minelab to set the sensitivity to between 14 and 16 whe chasing gold to deal with the mineralisation. The tracking feature continually ground balances so you don't have to keep doing it. Glad you enjoyed watching. Andrew

    I live in Alaska. We only get about 3 months without snow and 24 hrs of sun. Unless I plan to prospect in the snow in the dark? Lots of different terrain and creeks, and rocky beaches. Looking for mainly gold, and also native artifacts. So with money aside. What do you recommend for an all-around detector with a coil? 6 in sounds nice! How do you like the DD coils? Would like some depth as well. Lots of mountain rock here? Your advice will be honored!. I found a 7.97-gram nug just by chance. Got the fever now. I'm only worried about a bear sneaking up on me at the creek or somewhere.🤠

    Sorry mate. This comment went to 'held for review'. I would recommend the Minelab SDC2300 as an allrounder. It has an 8 inch coil and is sturdily built and can sniff out gold at a good depth, so your rocky conditions are covered. Good luck and watch out for the bears.

    I have the nox 800 and use it for gold prospecting. I use factory GOLD 1 setting because it notches out ferrous and hot rocks, in mineralized ground I run at about sensitivity 16-18 to stop it chattering. Another youtube channel author uses all metal 40 kHz and puts up with the chatter and says I'm missing a lot of gold because I'm losing depth. What do you think is it 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, i.e. I may miss some gold but I'm not constantly digging ferrous targets and sorting hot rocks, he does have me second guessing, even after 45 years of swinging a VLF. Your thoughts please and of course any one else.

    Gday John. Sorry for the late response. It went to review and I haven’t looked at it for awhile. The boys at Minelab told me the 6” coil was the way to go but to realize that the depth would only be about 3” on small gold. If a nugget was bigger you would pick it up deeper. The 800 is a great versatile machine that does relics and gold. If you are worried about big nuggets deep down, maybe a full gold machine is the go. Good luck with your future hunts 👍😁

    Gday Mark. You could. I haven’t done it but you may need to tune your sensitivity down lower as you will be picking up more mineralization from the ground and making it more chatty. That’s why we use the 6” coil. Best of luck 😁👍

    Hello, I have a question for you about the mineralization of the MINELAB EQUINOX 800 metal detector. This is not in the metal detector's manual in values which are more or less. My question is: The mineralization values of equinox 800 are from - 9 to 99, which values show more or less mineralization in the soil of those who are - 9 with higher soil mineralization or those who have 99?

    G’day A M. My mate hasn’t got back to me yet but on the talk we had I will try to answer your question. The values you asked about are frequencies that the detector uses to combat the mineralisation in the ground. Factory preset is 0 in most field settings. When I manually ground balance I have never seen it go into negative numbers. I have seen it go way up when I have tried to ground balance on a target. So I would say that the higher the number, the more mineralisation there is. If you balance and it goes way over 50, move your coil to a different piece of ground and try again. Hope this helped. Happy detecting 😁

  • @TheCoffeeBushKid

    @TheCoffeeBushKid

    You can give it a try but the reason you go for a 6” coil is that with the 11” you will get more mineralisation coming back into the coil and making it more chirpy and hard to hear targets. You may have to turn the sensitivity further down to be able to hear anything. Also with the 6” you can poke it into smaller places where larger coils can’t go. Good luck with it all. You have a great machine 😁👍
