How do you design a gallery room? | National Gallery
First opened to the public in 1930, Room 29 is one of the largest spaces in the National Gallery. Since its doors closed in March 2022, we have been busy making important changes to the room to bring it into the 21st century. But what is the history of this room and what did it look like before? Find out as we go behind the scenes.
Edit: Prince George was the Duke of Kent (George VI's brother) and not the future King George VI, who was Prince Albert before he ascended the throne.

Thank you for this very interesting insight behind the scenes!
The woman in green really knows what she is talking about! Wonderful!
A beautiful room! The care put into the lighting was interesting to hear about!
Always interesting to hear about curatorial decisions. Yes, presentation is an art in itself! Thanks for a glimpse of the back-of-house thinking
Nicely done by all, what a labor of love and treasure to the British people. If I could I would be there every day to explore.
the consideration about the lighting is very interesting to know I didn't know about that
Love this presentation, will appreciate the behind the scenes efforts more next time I visit. Thank you.
Beautifully presented video…very interesting to as well as informative…the presenter/interviewer’s voice is soothing and well spoken…thank you! Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭!
Fascinating to learn about theses facts, always a great value especially for those in the art business, like us, best !
This is a great video, shows the hard work behind this renewed space.
Looking forward to seeing this sometime soon. I like the fact that the paintings are hung low so you can get up quite close. I wish I could do that with the lighting at home,

We look forward to welcoming you to the Gallery soon, Heidi. Thanks for watching our video!
Fascinating. Can’t wait to see this room in person knowing how much went into it!
Such a pleasure
The first image that comes to mind is all the unused space, when there's a lot of art in storage. Yes, I know, you'll say "But do you not understand? The space is used, it's used to place the picture in the perfect setting..." still I'd rather see additional paintings.
what a lovely film! i think Room 29 is a triumph and it is so interesting to hear how it has been put together. so much thought has gone into it!

Lots of hard work from everyone involved, absolutely! Thanks for watching :)
Congratulations an interesting video and nothing woke to distract from my enjoyment.
I miss the National Gallery so much... I used to go there to sketch or just admire the art work. I loved each hall and the care that went into every detail of that building. Now that i have moved away it feels like loosing a friend 😢💔 i will definitely come visit next year and celebrate your 200th birthday 🎂❤

A few days to be in, so grateful for it!! :)
Such an interesting presentation!! Thank you so much for sharing! It's so awesome to come to know all this work behind the scenes for the refurbishing of a room in the museum 🤗
Wonderful video!!!❤
Thanks for this wonderful video behind the scenes.
` 🕊️ An artistic puzzle to show art in the genuine way.
Beautiful, thanks for a great explanation and documentary. Superb 👍
King George VI was Prince Albert before taking the throne NOT Prince George. Prince George was in fact his brother, the Duke of Kent.
オランダの画家と対比させる机上の空論の見える化か?
Prince George was the Duke of Kent (George VI's brother) and not the future George VI. Fascinating video otherwise!
