A Producer can see what he wants to produce and if he has the finance pay others to do the actual production and even marketing of the film. If you have or can get the money then you can be a producer. It's simple. The success of your Producing will depend on all what goes into making a film, by whom, where, when and why. The art has to be there and the technical skill on delivery.

Hey my name's Greg, I work for Janet. Just to add: The only way to know who is good, who can execute on their vision and work efficiently, is by working with them. If you're a producer and you get funding for something but the director you vouched for ends up way over budget, that could hurt you long term.

@@officialfriendsinfilm That's for sure. A way to resolve this would be to give the director or others an incentive by sharing some of the profit up and above their pay. Bonus to, if budgets are kept in line. Certainty on keeping the budget correct by offering some of what might get wasted by going over budget as a bonus for a good production might be helpful. I just produced 5 shorts to be released but I know the director who is also a script writer and does the colouring work and some of the sound but professional sound work is ideal which is what I will be doing.

What Bachelors's degree do you recommend getting? I am currently majoring in business. Are Marketing and Finance a good option?

Hello, my name is Greg, I work for Janet. I can answer this one ;) Even for producing, you don't need a degree of any kind. There's people in A-list (Janet's main program) who are in the producing sphere and they didn't get business or finance degrees. Here's one, I believe she's still a digital producer at NBC, was making 78k when this video was made: kzread.info/dash/bejne/momFscOzlJOnZs4.html I forget if she covers it in that video but this is like the 3rd or 4th major position she's been in. For all of the jobs in the industry, connections and experience are what matter, but if you want to be a producer you need to know production companies, other producers, and especially directors and DPs (good ones). Have to have some time in the industry to make those relationships. Many people in A-list went to film school, but everyone was running into the same problem where they couldn't actually get in to the professional industry and make those relationships. Janet pushes people to go straight into the industry and then just use their time and energy really wisely. I hope that makes sense. You can also email info@friendsinfilm.com and Janet can tell you more :)
