Thank you for reacting to Taras! I think anyone who hears Taras beatboxsing tried to replicate his sounds. He has a way of making every sound so pure and addictive that it lodges itself in the mind. You’ll be singing or trying to replicate his sounds all day, I’m sure. One of the favorite moments in Faded (and one that most people can’t help themselves from acting out and trying to copy vocally) is the gunshot bit. Taras’s skills do delve into the unfathomable, agreed. It’s a huge part of the reason he’s set apart from the pack. He thinks outside of the (beat)box and has his finger on the pulse of what makes music a truly enjoyable audible experience that speaks to their souls. He’s working on a new project that should be coming out soon, so keep an eye on his page.

your enthusiasm is FANTASTIC!!!! Best Taras reaction of all time. "Same" is an original song, it will ruin you. AND "Swissbeatbox taras" video is a six minute gauntlet of raw vocals with no effects (or limited effects, no reverb). Taras displays his dominance of the human face.

Taras and Improver did this as a tagteam wildcard entry for GBB 24, where they don't have the post production effects. It sounds just as wild and awesome without the editing. P.S., Improver is pronounced like Improve rather than Improv. 😊

"How do you learn that you can do this?" I will tell you that I started beatboxing back in 1997 while listening to music at work because I was a drummer, pianist, and trombone player and I just wanted to keep the music going. Over the years you just start to hear sounds and figure out if you can mimic it. Eventually you just start to gain a control over the different parts of your vocal anatomy that you didn't even realize existed. It is a really fun journey to go on:)

You need to watch one of Improver's videos where he's driving people around in his car (Uber) and does live beatboxing for them. He's Russian, so it's all in Russian, but he subtitles them. :)

Mortius, I also want to let you know that they did a live version of this as their wildcard entry into the new GBB competition that the wildcard rounds are just wrapping up. Wildcards allow small filters on the microphones, but limited to no post production. They perform it in a room with good natural reverb and it sounds amazing. Worth checking out if you are interested. People have been giving these 2 so much flak for how good it sounds that they named their tag team "Fake and Autotune" to troll the haters when they submitted the live version of this.

The stutter effect can be produced by pushing the air up to the uvula and vibrating it while singing/whistling/humming. I noticed I could replicate this sound doing that. Everything Taras can do is just utterly fascinating and sounds incredibly brilliant.

The "stutter effect" which blew your mind is a uvular trill. When you get good at it you can vary the amount of trill and use it for stutterish sounds! Yay cool stuff! Also the synth ish sound that hes doing in the begining of creep is a glottal stop done while "placing the voice" towards the lips. Thats why he has to close his lips and create a small hole for the air to pass. The back pressure helps with getting the sound out! Also, hes using chest/mixed for it but it can be done in head voice and its actually pretty easy!

I reckon you'd really like the GBB23 circle jam. Smaller than previous ones, but most of the people in it have some pretty insane vocal techniques that I reckon you'd love. Taras is in it.

The ability to use non-human vocalizations as in mimicking animals or environmental sounds has an evolutionary advantage. I know that all through growing up I and the guys around me would mimic sounds from gunshots and explosions while playing to trying to recreate beats and music sounds, so I think that same sort of process is at work at the higher levels. You hear something new and try it - watch other professional level beatboxers reacting to Taras and you'll often see them try to recreate his sounds.
