❤️ 7-2-22, Yvonne is on the mend and we continue to send her positive healing energies. ❤️ The foals are ignored by their mems. That's how it has to be after they're weaned. They have to learn how to be on their own and grow up ~~ the cycle of Life. Many blessings.

@@scrapykat3028 Second that emotion! I think of my mom every day and night. I saw a video of a 3-year-old white stallion up for auction with his mama. The cowboy decided to buy the white mama (they looked so alike), but the separation was so unbearable for the stallion who was actually bigger than mama. The sound of the stallion crying broke my heart. The man bought both together as he could see they were family for life. Makes your eyes well up! And he said the stallion never tried to cover his mama, so this was a bond that was clearly two hearts beating as one. Thanks, mister, wherever you are!

Watch wild horse interactions. Very much different. These horses live in an artificially safe environment, in artificial groupings. In the wild, sons and daughters stay with their mother and father for several years before starting their own families. Colts are allowed to run and meet other colts. Fillies are kept safe until they are around four years old. At around three or four years, colts start to hang out in groups together where they play fight each other to hone their skill and establish order of dominance. Stallions will drive young colts away from their daughters until they are old enough to start their families. Most stallions have two or three mares, two young and one or two older, wiser, experienced mares who know the landscape and help care for the babies. Some stallions have even more mares if they are very good fighters. Two groups that I follow are the Pryor Mountain horses and the Salt River Wild Horses.

this is after weaning for 3 weeks....you are only seeing the mares at feeding time and they are concerned with getting to the hay, getting enough to eat, as there is a time limit, and heirarchy...they do this daily and know the drill.......but you weren't there to see the pain of weaning for both mare and foal. Imagine someone came in and took your baby without your consent. I"m not saying they are being mistreated, just saying please don't think weaning is easy because you aren't seeing it - you are seeing 3 weeks after the process. If you got to see mares and foals in a large pasture setting without human intervention weaning is done by the mare and sometimes they don't wean them for a few years. We speed up this process so we can start training the foal and using the mare to breed again.

Generally, the horse that yields space to the other horse is the lower one. Pay attention next time your horses are out in pasture. You might notice a pattern with your horses, you'll be able to pick out the dominant one by paying attention who is the one moving who. The one that pushes (consistently) and gains space is dominant over the one who yields that space.
Love the young ladies, so beautiful. Moms stop for a bite but are not interested in the weaned fillys. Life is tough some times, but, things will get better.

Aww, poor babies. But I guess, like all children, they must grow up.
How wonderfully instructive (although a bit sad) to allow the fillies to learn that their mom’s can no longer participate in their lives because they have new hormones & babies to prepare for. The little girls have been “made” by their moms and you, Yvonne ♥️ Great training, by YOU from now forward for the three fillies! I so love how Uneik and your whole family of Friesians interact with one another. 😊👌♥️🥰
These fillies are so funny with their chewing at the moms.
Aaww, Mathilde's such a good girl, trying not to irritate her mom too much by nibbling some hay for a bit and looking to see if she'll be acknowledged. Unlike Myrthe, who's all up in Sjirkje's face xD
