This Druze community is a relative outlier compared to the Druze further south. It would be interesting to learn more about their own internal divides.

I guess you didn't hear , it's illegal to just take somebody elses land by force . Being at war is one thing and you may win that war but you don't get to keep their land. The Golan Heights belong to Syria and I think Russia is getting more and more interested in the middle-east . Sothern Crimea is a stratigic location as well, able to hit anywhere in the middle-east. Israel could be in for another battle .

they are not Jewish. they are of mixed origins but since the last few centuries consider themeselves a separate ethnicity and a people. druze can have many nationalities and are often quite patriotic and very respectful to their neighbors of other faiths and ethnicities.

Syria was created by the French and British. Golan height became part of Syria when the French mandate ended in 1944.

It’s not Syrian since Assad, Senior attacked Israel in 1967 and lost. It’s breath taking Israeli land with magnificent sites to see and fun things to do. Here’s a limited list of places you can visit should you ever get off your @ss and get away from your gee-hoddy keyboard: ski on Mount Hermon, take a tour of the vineyards at the Golan Heights Winery, hike up the steep trail through the ancient ruins of Gamla, swim under the waterfalls at Banias or tube down the Dan River. There are plenty of nature reserves, ruins and ancient artifacts to enjoy.

You want to know why... its illegal to conquer land through war. Imagine the USA annexed Iraq... lol.. anything else genius? Oh and who occupied and attacked Sinai in 1955?

@@krazythedomm That part of the Golan is never going to be Syrian. Syria isn’t even Syria any more. Had the Syrians behaved themselves and not waged war against Israel from the Golan, then it wouldn’t be Israeli now. Tell the Turks to give back what the took from Cyprus. America screwed up in Iraq. The Israelis told the Americans to stay out of it. The Egyptians used the Sinai as a staging ground to attack Israel. It too got what it deserved.

Golan was always part of Israel. The British illegally gave it to the French, which is how it temporarily became a part of the European construct of Syria. But, after the Arabs attacked Jewish civilians, over and over, and then tried to take all of Israel, the IDF drove the occupying Syrian forces off of the Golan, and it returned to what it has always been, part of Israel.
