I have a child that was born about 8 weeks early. For the first eight months of his life he could not make eye contact at all. If I forced eye contact with my child, my child would become extremely upset and scream and cry. My child also had to go to physical therapy. My child would just lie there and not move any part of their body. The physical therapist told us that they suspected that the corpus callosum was not there. (that is the part that connect the right and left hemisphere of the brain). So, we were told that maybe our child would never crawl or walk, etc. So, after a year of physical therapy, I decided to start training our child my own way.. after two weeks, our child could walk. Throughout the first year, I read a lot of medical studies, etc about autism. Plus, I already knew about how the male and the female brains process information between the left and right hemisphere of the brain.. (So, this kind of helped with the next part I will type.) I learned about research on sulforaphane. It has many great health benefits and one of them is related to autism. Actually from what I read, ADHD and Autism are related in the brain, according to one research paper I read. Anyways...I followed a clinical trial about sulforaphane for autism. It seemed that the clinical trial had some positive results. However, the sulforaphane was given according to body weight.. As too much is not very safe.. kind of like if someone took too much iron or whatever. I started giving my child sulphoraogane at about 8 months of age. On the 3rd day our child was able to make eye contact and smile for the first time ever. There is still a lot of unknown, we we are doing the best we can ...we live in a country that doesn't have access to specialists like the people in the video. However, I recorded all the phonemes for the language we wanted out child to learn. This was to train the brain to first hear the individual sounds and then in time the mouth will practice producing the memories of those sounds that have been created in the brain. We played this every day, many times per day all the way up until now. We made sure we gave our child daily lessons for colors, shapes, numbers, animals, etc. For the first year or so, not any words were spoken at all. Then in the second year, our child trying to repeat the words. It seemed that our child really liked music. So, I learned that playing music that has back and forth dialogue helped with autism. So, I played music like this. Also, anytime that there was an action word, I made sure that I had our child use the action, so that our child's body could connect / associate the words to actual actions of comprehension. So, for example. If I lifted our child up in the air...(which our child greatly enjoyed).. I would say up. And when I lowered our child I would say down. We also, used a tablet for many learning apps for more hands on learning. It has been a slow processes... but our child just turned 3 and can finally recognize there own name and is started to string words together. Before our child liked to spin things, but now that has stopped. We still give the sulforaphane, and we believe that it is helpful for our child as we continue to strategically give daily lessons. We give hugs and kisses every day. Initially, our child resisted such affection, but now is very affectionate. Again there is a lot of unknown, but remember to speak slowly so they can hear the sounds of the words correctly to imitate them. Our child does speak two languages and modern research that I have read says that children that learn languages at the same time reach the language milestones at the same time as well. Just don't give up and know that detailed logic helps the most. I hope our experience can help. Oh. and by the way... our child didn't start saying individual words consistently until 20 months.. There are some words they would forget, but we just keep reviewing and with in the last week or so, those words are coming back stronger than ever. :)

know that your not alone love. This is our learning point as parents to understand/educate ourselves about our children a little bit more.

I would like to recommend a book from dr. Feuerstein - A think-Aloud and Talk-Aloud approach to building language. It suggests a way for language improvement based on scientific findings anyone can use in an everyday life to help a person with speech problems. As I got it so far, it’s good to comment on everything out loud, as if you would think loudly, using a correct language and articulation and interesting intonation that helps grab the attention of the child/adult. You shouldn’t get discouraged if you’re not getting a response or active attention, it should be still helping, even if the progress is maybe not seenable for a long period of time. I don’t have any real-life experiences with this technique, but maybe someone could find it useful here. Also thank you for your videos :)

Our son is on the spectrum and he is smart and knows his colors shapes and he can say mom and no and he has said bubble but only once, he pays attention and he follows directions excellent and I see so much of an improvement with him but I try and help him talk but he seems to not care 90% of the time and sometimes he trys and I feel so bad so I need help we need help and he wants nothing to do with another person that's not in his circle ,he flips out and I dont know what to do, advice?

We would also encourage to comment more rather than ask questions when joining him for his play times as it may not like the demands. Our son is a non verbal. He is almost 3yrs old and doesnt speak. He is doing ABA 4times a week which started few months ago and 1hr of speech therapy which started a 2weeks ago. He can say mama oand/or papa when he is frustrated that he wants something. Only that but occasional. He know very few gestures. He follows command sometimes. But its difficult for me to engage with him as he walks around always holding something in his hands. Help please. Thank you and God bless

Hello, thank you for reaching out and sharing. We would recommend the use of PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) to further build your child's functional communication skills. PECS will provide an avenue for your child to functionally communicate his needs and wants which will in turn lead to a reduction of behaviors. At the same time, as you mentioned that he can verbalise mama/papa when he wants something, we would encourage to create communication opportunities starting with items that are motivating to him. For example, if he really wants a cookie, we can hold back the cookie and model the word "cookie" a couple of times and if he does verbalise sounds that are approximate, we can reward him with a big piece of cookie. Same thing is hapenned to me too. My son also keeps holding somthing on hand and he donot play with toys and keps on hand. Hy donot focus on us while we speak. He is 2.5 yrs old. Is any change occured on your baby. Kindly share your ideas please

I have a two year he is not talking I think he migh autistic . He do the hand flaping and walking on his toe don't answer to his name but if I sing ABC to him he pay good attention he look me in the eye when am talking he is saying some words how can I help him

My son has many single worlds like wash, shower, susu which means I want to pee in my language, bye, car, daddy, mammy, his brother name Ashy, eat, no no no , let's go, outside,. Etc.. he can read pictures, egg, apple, dog, van, baby,.. sorry.. Now please tell me he will eventually talk.. worried mother help.
