Whatever I get from training partners. I work on one instructional a month, and then keep a running list of what I fail at in training and work on that as it presents itself.

Thank you for this. I'm 51, got my purple belt June 23' after 6 years (I'm old, can't remember exactly ;)). One of my prof. told me a few weeks ago that I needed to start focusing on finding my game, that it wasn't enough to keep showing up anymore....Here in lies my challenge. I like to play around with all kinds of things, mostly I'm finding Lasso gives me opportunities and interesting problems to deal with and figure out, arm wrap closed guard feels controlling, I like triangles, all the head arm choke configurations....etc. I'm almost always playing guard, closed and open, I find everyone wants to be on top so instead of getting in this battle of the tards' I just opt to play guard and get on with the game. I find myself at times just wanting to get better at all the basics that I sucked at as a lower belt, arm bars from guard, and bottom side, hook sweeps, figuring out how to be more pressure oriented when I am playing top, its hard at 150lb's.....sorry for the ramble, thanks for the direction/ ideas....

I absolutely love these types of videos, the long form mindset building types. It’s the chewjitsu blueprint. Bernardo brings on the best minds and talents in the sport but how quickly forget that he is also one of the best minds and talents in the sport too. It’s great to get in the mind of another multi time black belt world champion. Keep doing these!! Thanks!

I’ve been experimenting with focusing on one concept per month. Last month, I concentrated on Reverse de la Riva. Before every class, I would take a few minutes to drill different sweeps from this guard. Then during sparring gnu would try to hit sweeps from RDLR. For March, I’m going to focus on passing slider guard

I need to ask. I am struggling where I train because I don’t know what exactly I need to work on to progress in both rank and skill. We don’t do enough continuous drills in one basic thing so I become proficient example being mount escapes then we do S mount attacks, then de la hiva. I am at the point where I’m looking elsewhere to train elsewhere that offers some kind of consistency. What do I do?

Hi Mister Faria, I’m a confirmed athlete, I practice BJJ for 6 months now, I don’t have any problems with stamina or strength, what is the most difficult thing for me is to rebuild a guard when I am about to be passed. I have long legs and arms so naturally I would think that spider guard should be the most appropriate…but look more complex for a beginner. What is your opinion about that please ? Any opinion are welcomed 😉

Cant build a game plan unless you're purple. But purple belts don't need to answer this question, as most have the answer. Blue belts should pay attention, as they often build bad plans. I'm blue, long time blue but often paired with purples since a while. Most of em suggest I work on guard passing till it becomes m jab, or bread and butter move.

How are you pulling half guard from a failed double leg? Is this due to the opponent not getting you in a front headlock in time from their sprawl?

Here is something I've learned early in my career, which is applicable here, not far from what you said: Focus on your weaknesses, so you are just not terrible at them, and focus on your strengths to be someone exceptional.
