    Thanks for this video Mogan. I need to do a top end on an older (2007) 300 XC-W I have before I sell it, and digging into the power valve was a little intimidating.

    After working on both KTM and Beta power valves - I find the Beta to be much simpler and easier to work on. Downside is the Beta valve carbons up faster (at least for me) than the KTM's..

    Good video Morgan, will come in handy on my 300. Miss the intro song btw, kind of sets the mood. Hey let us know the next time you're going riding in Oklahoma, my 12yr old and I would love to join.

    4:35 You should use medium strength or green hi temp LocTite. Red LocTite like 271 is permanent and you need a torch to brake it loose after it dries. I noticed that wasn't the actual LocTite brand so maybe red is different for what brand you're using, but you can get people into a lot of trouble if they actually use red LocTite. Just saying. Good video though.

    Awesome video! I have just done the top end on my 300 xcw. i removed the bolt from my actuator stop plate and i reinstalled it to spec (i think) what would happen if i didnt quite get the measurement right and why do they give you the option to adjust if it has to be a set height?

    Good video, Morgan. Just doing a top end on my 2017 TE250 and my power valve is nasty and in dire need of freshening up. Gonna see if I can find someone near me to do the vapor blasting, because man, that looks so nice to work on something perfectly clean lol

    @ 5:14 you mentioned that you hadn't removed that bolt..welp, I unbolted that...do I just guess at how to put it back? I do have a Nihilo Concepts timing tool that I think somehow does something for that...but IDK lol

  • @highlandcycles

    @highlandcycles

    Yeah. That tool should help. I just set the power valve all the way closed and then tighten that bolt.

    @@highlandcycles I finally got some time to tinker on it a bit more, now I understand it a bit more. Just curious, if you set the power valve all the way closed and then set the stop there, do you think that the power valve will open all the way? The Nihilo Concepts timing tool sets the stop a little bit before it's closed all the way.

    @@4x4American I am not 100% sure but I think it does. Either way the bikes run well and have the most low end

    Hey thanks for the video I am redoing my 2021 te300i and on the left side of the power valve where you would adjust the power valve timing mine never had the additional piece for the timing. I am the original owner and first to have it apart. Is this normal for the 2021 te300i?

    On my 2020 KTM 300 exc on the right side of the cylinder there is a small screw that seems to adjusts how far powervalve closes.....so what is the purpose of that....?

  • @highlandcycles

    @highlandcycles

    For tuning. The further you let it close, the more low end the bike will have

    I’m questioning if I put the left side and right side valves in vise versa. I think they’re right, but I’ll double check. I forgot to put sealant around the cover. I just put together my bike after a few years of it sitting apart… I can’t get it to start. New carb, new reeds, new top end, all new orings and seals for power valve and head, new hardware etc. but she won’t start…
