How do flies bite? In this video, we explore the answer. Biting flies have six "blades" on their faces. These are also called "stylets". Each stylet has a specific role in the biting process. The stylets that we see in this video come from a horse fly.

I was once bitten by a either a deer or horse fly which carried bad bacteria which caused infection painful cluster of holes in my legs had to take anti biotics for weeks and caused permanent scars. If left untreated would've maybe caused sepsis and death

Some other species of flies will simply just puke (excrete) bile liquid onto their chosen food source and then vacuum it up with a proboscis (straw-like appendage found on butterflies/moths too)

It may sound dumb, but hear me out. I'm an engineer and work with a lot of non technical people. One day I was explaining how a centrifugal pump works to my 5 year old, and she explained it back in her vocabulary to make sure she got it. In this example, she described it as being like a floor fan for liquids. Now, obviously it can be made to suit the audience a bit better, but if you have a 10-12 year old, I bet you could get some great simplification on complex problems.

Yeah, I wanna know how the scrotum works. What goes on behind that mysterious leathery curtain? How does it keep moving when changes temperature? You could use a muppets version of a ball bag that waves at us before it comes towards us with the melodic piano and satisfying fluid sounds and end with a splat. What else could they do?

Was you're dad ate by flies when he went to get milk? Unless your a corpse this isn't scary kids are curious and will not find this terrifying. And for adults Flies are fat inefficient mosquitoes without malaria. I'd be more afraid of there eggs as an adult as that's how they get you by numbers.

This explains so much! When a horse fly bit me I audibly screeched
It just made me sure it was never a coincidence. It's a very complicated, well designed creation.
