Statement 1 at 5:26 is incorrect. ETS markets are not ‘designed to increase in price’, instead they are designed to decrease in allocated credits. If emission within the system fall faster than the allocated credits, the price actually decreases. By holding credits one is exposed to the market’s supply and demand balance, as in other markets. Whether future demand will outpace supply is up to the investor to decide, but it is not ruled out that the energy transition progresses faster than anticipated or (!) governments water down initial targets by issueing more credits, in one shape or form.

Not just the uk.. its a ridiculous circle scheme just to be able to skim here in canada. They tell you they take the money from you to just give it back to you while telling you "this should be used to buy a bike" lol it literally doesn't do a single thing to reduce carbon.
