How Do Blundstone Boots Hold Up After 1 Year? Review + Waterproof Test

Instagram: 8thWeekday DID YOU SUBSCRIBE?! THUMBS UP!?
The Blundstone 550's in rustic brown is certainly an attractive boot, but does it live up to the hype AFTER ONE YEAR? This specific style is a 585 and appears to be a nubuck leather which to be 100% I didn't even notice right away because I impulse bought them and then tossed them on my feet. A lot of people also told me to get Redbacks, let me know if you think those are worth it? Quite a few people said they are a lot better than Blundstones but I haven't looked into them a TON yet so I'm not positive.

The gore can't get immersed in water and stay dry. I've tested it. But it doesn't leak as bad as you'd think. If you coat the gore with several layers of sealant it's very hard for water to get through, but that's not really necessary if you're just looking to be protected from rain and snow. I think Blunnies are a bit dorky, but this style of boot makes an excellent town boot for rainy days or northern winters. They're super comfortable and more than weather-proof enough. I really only wear mine in winter or in the rain, but they've lasted 15 years and still look almost new. If it's just to get you around town, you don't need the insulated ones. They're heavier and hotter and the regular ones are more versatile. I hate clunking around in winter boots because most of the time you're driving or otherwise inside. Just wear some wool socks if it's super cold out.

Great video and review. I am trying to decided between the #550 and the ones you have the rustic brown. I have a pair of Ariat cowboy boots and Tecovas roper boots. The more worn they look I think the better they look. Correct me if I am wrong but the rustic looks more worn than it actually is.

Whats up mang. I'm on the Northshore, and I got them Rustic Brown 1306's like your girl has. You mentioned in another video she has not waterproofed hers. Whats her leather looking like around the sole-leather connection. You should make a video with hers as well, compare them etc. Does she have salt stains from winter de-ice treatments etc? I want to keep the color, and not waterproof. I suppose I can just break out the lowrise Bean Boots when it gets soupy wet out.

  • @TheIronSnail

It’s actually not looking bad at all! Really nothing to speak of in terms of salt or anything. She’ll rinse them with fresh water periodically. Also yes that’s a great idea! She’ll be in vids soon Also + finally yeah I’d go bean boots when it’s real soupy just because you’ll always be fine with rubber there

I got the same model as your boots, Im a size 7 usually in trainers but i got a size 6 in these because I thought they would be loose fitting and the leather would stretch. When i first put them on they're very comfortable however they're very snug and after a few hours i feel them hurting my feet. Did you get a size down from your usual size also? and if so do you get this problem?. Would you also buy another pair of blundstones? even if they go out of fashion? Also, thanks for the updated reviews, it helps give an idea of what to expect in terms of durability and how long they will last.

  • @TheIronSnail

I actually went true to size on these! I did that because I wear them with thick wool socks in the winter and wanted to make sure that I’d be comfy. Is your foot hitting the front of the boot or it the sides of the boot that are too snug?? Also yes! I think I’d get these boots again for sure even if they aren’t in fashion! I also think they’ll be in fashion or at least my style for a long long time.

dude its looks they came back down to a lighter shade (like when you brought them) after that otter wax dried and you've worm them a bit, I've got these, only had them 3 weeks, I've only used nikkiwax nubuck waterproofer and protector, but i'd like to condition them if they look to be getting to dry.

I'm a student, so I don't need a pair of boots which will survive a rugged work day- or indeed be great on tough mountain trails. What these boots are good for is simply wearing them. I wear them when walking to the shops, lectures etc. But then they look great with black jeans on a night out. I still get compliments from even the most 'fashionable' of people. They're comfy, stylish and hard wearing (for what I use them for )
